Wellesley underrated?

From another post, but why is it that Wellesley is so underrated nationally? It has a direct relationship with MIT, has just as high of an endowment as WASP, and is always ranked right under WASP. Why isn’t it more respected?

That means it’s overrated.

That means it’s overrated.

Why? It’s student profile is better than some WASP schools.

Because it is a women’s college. There is a perception that they are not as rigorous. Women from women’s colleges are often underestimated. They tend to be very bright people, though.

I think it’s respected but maybe not well liked.

It’s kept a very traditional approach academically.

Many of its students don’t seem thrilled to be there. Even our own tour guide.

Because Hilary Clinton went there.

Could say the same thing about Williams, and it’s rated as the best lac

Higher admit rate, and worse — not similar — profile. 30% ED admit rate. Great school, but overrated because it is the top women’s school.

Most of wasp has the same Ed admit rate and have to admit the other 50% of the population. This is more impressive on Wellesley’s end than proof of WASP being superior.

Because it’s not that hard to get into compared to other LACs. Only a certain number of women want an all women’s college. I think it’s overrated. A different level of student goes there compared to Williams, Amherst and those ranked lower like Wesleyan.

What percentage lesbian/trans is it?

Reported, this is inappropriate and has nothing to do with the conversation.

Here’s a good satirical article on the student body: https://thewellesleynews.com/19165/the-wellesley-snooze/class-of-2028-through-the-numbers/

Swat is 16%
Pomona is 13%

Those are the only of WASP with two rounds of ED. Bowdoin is 18%. Wellesley is not in the same league and is lucky to be ranked where it is.

As for Williams and Amherst, they have only one round of ED…

But something tells me numbers will not matter to you. So be it.

WASP doesn’t actually represent the best lacs. It’s more a catchy name to demonstrate the most prominent examples of LACs. There’s quite a few lacs better than the WASP ones.
