Warning to Owner of Vizsla Puppy with Dog Walkers

Anonymous
I encountered your puppy - less than 6 month old male Vizsla - today Jan 4th @ around 12:00 noon, in Battery Kemble Park.

He was alone, off leash, with no collar, wearing a turquoise jacket. Very sweet puppy. He wanted to play with my dog, came right to me, and I used the jacket’s top rings to put him on my leash.

Dog Walkers were an older couple with a blue mini van. They had around 10 dogs with them, all off leash. They were quite far away but I’d heard them yelling for the puppy. I returned him to them.

It was a very dangerous situation for your puppy. He was all alone on the upper trail so not far from Chain Bridge road. Please reconsider using these Dog Walkers for your puppy!

Jesus Christ mind your business, fool. They’re probably training him (as dog walkers often do).

Can’t do that off leash in public. Especially training. A six month old he is not ready to be under full voice command. OP is right to warn.

I would report them, OP. Off-leash is illegal.

No dog walker should be taking out 10 dogs. There's an old guy who has 6-8 around the Cathedral and he's a menace. OP is right. I hope that puppy's owners and others stop using them.

You're assuming they are dog walkers? There are crazy dog people...

Regardless, they're not allowed to leave their dogs unleashed.

What the idiotic nonsensical fsck?! No, they are definitely not "training" the offleash unattended 6-month old puppy who is running up to randoms, nor are they responsibly caring for the 10ish other dogs not under their control.

OP, try to take a picture of the people and the license plate and report it to animal control. This is beyond stupid.

You are the fool. They lost the puppy. They had been calling for him for over 20 minutes and were at the opposite end of the park - which is largely a forest. I heard them much earlier and guessed he might be the dog they were searching for. Plus a puppy, UNDER 6 months, is not ready for this type of training.

I have no interest in calling animal control or reporting anyone. I do wish dog owners would use better sense in choosing who they entrust their dogs to, especially puppies as young as this one.

Minding our business has made our society less safe, more disconnected and worse overall.

DON’T MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS.

As a dog owner this terrifies me. Post this everywhere you can, and hopefully the owners will see it.

Nope not op I can’t stand people who let dogs off leash. It’s so irresponsible and dangerous.

It’s actually hilarious how triggered you lot are at the suggestion to mind your own business. Dog people are a special breed of busybody.
