Pls suggest sunshine destination for solo mom

Anonymous
I’m taking a solo trip as a mental health break from my caregiving duties. I wish my family could join me, but that’s not possible right now.

Budget is not determined, but neither low budget nor luxury.

I love having things to do - a little history, art, interesting shopping (not stuff I can buy here). Going on walks. Dipping feet in water. I don’t want to get too bored, as I worry I’ll feel lonely. Definitely hoping to relax, though.

Zero interest in jet skis or any high adventure activities.

I would loooove some sunshine/Vitamin D. Safety as a middle aged traveler is important (I do have basic street smarts).

I’m wondering about the Bahamas (where? options are overwhelming), Barbados (again, where?) - other suggestions?

If you want some history and art with your beach, I'd say Puerto Rico.

Thanks, suggestions on where in PR?

I’d go to Charleston or San Diego (warmer in SD but easier to get to Charleston).

Old San Juan is magical. And Luquillo is a short drive from San Juan and had lovely beaches.

I just did this but I went to an all inclusive adults only resort (Iberostar) in Punta Cana. I didn't set foot outside the resort, walked on the beach, had a couple massages, did yoga on the beach. It was great.

Bermuda is gorgeous, friendly, and safe. Tourists can’t rent cars there, so plan on taxis or buses (or scooters if you’re feeling adventurous, but I don’t recommend it). History is very interesting too.

Thank you all! I think San Juan and Bermuda are topping the list right now!
