Tuckahoe vs Nottingham

We are looking to put offers on houses in both school zones. I think they are largely very comparable but curious if anyone has experience with both schools. We have three kids with pretty different needs, and one with an IEP. I am eager to be involved with PTA and school community events.

Nottingham was almost closed a couple years ago. I’d be concerned about that.

A few years back there were a lot of complaints about treatment of kids with ieps at Nottingham. Might be resolved but i’d check around.

Doubt they are resolved since the issue is the principal and she's still there. Avoid.

My kid has an iep and is at Nottingham. It’s been great for them. Horrible for my oldest who is almost in HS. The old principal as terrible with ieps. I don’t know too many people who go to tuckahoe, but I think the main difference is Swanson or Williamsburg. Nottingham mostly goes to Williamsburg with few to Swanson. Depends on the year but some years it’s very few kids from
Nottingham to Swanson. Last year it was a decent amount. Wms is very rich and white. Swanson is much more diverse.

Probably going to shut Nottingham down at some point. The crazy moms can get their way only for so long. 😎

I do think that thins is probably true but then they will just send the kids to discovery or tuckahoe. I think that tuckahoe is a much better candidate to be shut down since it’s on a major road. Nottingham doesn’t have the space for a bunch of busses. The county doesn’t care though.

This may have been a possibility once, but I doubt it will happen since APS fired its planning department. By the time they redo boundaries for elementary school, ops kids will be in middle school.
There were serious issues with Nottingham and ieps, but I thought that was fixed when they fired the last principal.

There were serious issues with Nottingham and ieps, but I thought that was fixed when they fired the last principal.

Why did you think that was fixed? APS fired one bad principal and hired another who is just as bad for sped kids. Shameful really.
