An ode to the legendary toddler at Ruth’s Chris NYE post

I was just thinking about that post today… I’ve been on DCUM way too long. That restaurant in Bethesda has long since closed. I wonder how that mother and her child who must be a teenager now are doing…

Anyone else remember that one?

I was expecting an actual Ode, so of course I asked GPT to write one:

Ode to the Legendary Toddler at Ruth's Chris Steak House on New Year’s Eve

Oh three-year-old, small titan of cheer,
Who dared to grace fine dining near,
When clocks chimed ten and candles glowed,
You toddled forth, the star of this ode.

Your parents, bold, with a question posed,
On forums vast where judgment flows:
"Will diners mind, or will they bless,
Our tot at midnight in her fanciest dress?"

The sages typed, their brows askew,
"Get a sitter, or we’ll scowl at you!"
"A steakhouse late? A toddler’s play?"
But no! Your folks had plans that day.

With naps pre-planned and hopes held tight,
They whisked you off into the night.
In Bethesda’s posh and hushed domain,
You joined the feast, a tiny champagne.

Oh child, did you howl or gurgle delight?
Did steak fries fly in your jubilant flight?
Did patrons sigh, their romance askew,
Or toast your pluck with a winking, “You do you”?

We see you there, with crayon and bread,
Your midnight dreams, of cow softly fed.
While grown-ups debated, “Right or rude?”
You simply danced in toddler-hued mood.

Oh mighty toddler, of legend now sung,
At Ruth’s Chris Steak House, the night you were young.
May your tale endure, both ire and glee,
A toast to your midnight jubilee!

This is my favorite thing I’ve seen on the Internet.

So, really, I’m planning to bring my 3 year old to Capital Grille on NYE. Sound ok 😉

NP. This is awesome. Also note, I've been trying to figure out ways to make AI useful at work with not much luck. However, I also found that it's pretty decent with impromptu poetry, LOL. So I guess the job market for poets is going to be tougher, going forward, LOL.
