Came of age in the late 1980s. Around 20, figured out I was definitely not straight. But times were different then and not as accepting, unless you lived in a large city. Was terrified of telling family and friends the truth. Married and no kids, did a lot of 'imaging" to have an active sex life. We are now divorced and certainly was not fair to hide a large part of my identity to a spouse.
Now live in another city for work, and would like 2025 to be a year where I could meet and mutually fall in love with another guy. Or at worst, have some dating experience that was satisfying. So how do I even begin? Too old for hook up sites and as so few guys relative to the overall population are gay, how exactly do I pull this off? Surely there must be men in their 50s who would like another guy in their life? |
| It's not too late! There are a lot of sites for older gays |
| lol, you will do fine. My normal looking older neighbor friend gets some super hot younger dudes. |

The best time to have come out would have been 35 years ago. The next best time is now.

| Start with online dating or a meetup or club. (I don’t mean night club, I mean club like group of people all interested in the same thing. Like gay bocce or whatever you can find.) |

I’m a straight female but I find gay men to be a very welcoming group. The ones I know are so much fun. |

I have two male professional acquaintances in their 50s-60s who were married to women for decades, had kids, grey divorced, met men, got married to them (within last 5-10 years). Talking two groom / two tux weddings , just like on the modern Hallmark cards.
In contrast, my friend who came out in 1988, who would make a great husband, has never met a faithful love of his life. TL; DR it's very possible for you to meet someone. Not sure about how permanent but it is possible. Know your boundaries. |

Im a gay woman who has browsed Grindr out of curiously. Gay men have the world at their fingertips with that app! Also sniffies (you can just go on your browser anonymously without creating an account, in seconds you have a map of everyone close to you looking for a hookup). I would start with hookups to get a feel for what you like with men.
50s is not old. I'm 30 and the last people I've hooked up with were in their 40s. Grinder had tons of old guys in their 60s+ lots of younger guys have a fetish for older men, so as long as you don't mind being called Daddy... Haha Good luck! |
