What AP classes did your kid take in 10th grade?

DS will take AP Precalc (which I think is new at our school) and I think he said AP World History. Would adding another be too much for 10th?

Kids are stressed out already and DD found AP World History extremely challenging in 11th.

Please just cut your child a little slack for 10th; they can do additional APs later.

To reach the desired 13 APs by graduation, you need to sign up for AP basketweaving as a sophomote so you can take AP advanced basketweaving as a junior.

But seriously. The thing admissions officers seem to look for is whether they are challenging themselves or if they are coasting.
They can read your transcript and immediately see if your kid is a slacker looking for the path of least resistance or if they are challenging themselves

APUSH and Physics.

1st :AP World - best class. Taught them how to write much better and better than any English class they took.
2nd: AP Stats - has severe dyslexia and the AP histories had too much reading for them. Concentrated on their strengths.

Do kids take regular science before AP science or just straight to AP. Ex chem honors, or physics honors before taking AP?

Yes, my children took the Honors or lower AP (physics) version before taking APBio, AP Chem, and AP Physics C.

Mine took AP world history and it kicked her butt. A teacher her junior year asked her if she'd taken AP world and said she could tell.

Other friends also took AP pre-calc 10th grade.

In FFX County APUSH is 11th grade. AP World is 10th.

It depends on what they want to do. DS took Chem HN in 10th grade and then in 11th took AP Chem and AP Physics 1 - never took Physics HN.

Now in 12th is in AP Physics CM. With Physics it also depends on what math they are in bc there are co-requisites.

So timely - we are very frustrated by the lack of access to higher level science classes in 9th and 10th. They want to do physics 1 before C? Can my very strong (currently in 10th, bc, 1600 sat) student just take C? It’s like an endless litany of introductory classes.

Physics C Mech+E&M, or just Mech?
Single period or double period?

It's completely reasonable to take Physics 1 before Mech+E&M single-period.

Physics is more than just a math class.

AP Precalc doesnt count.

But regardless, the answer is whatever YOUR kid, who WE have never met, can handle and what their other commitments are.
