Ideas for multi-generational trip?

Anonymous
ILs want to do a big trip — grandkids will range from 3-15. A cruise is not an option because of some health issues of one family member.

Grandparents want an all inclusive on the beach; parents of young kids want easy flights/limited time change (ie, probably not Hawaii)

if anyone has ideas of locations (ideally the name of the exact resorts) that would fit the bill, I would be so appreciative! We need something that will have kid friendly activities available (probably more than just a beach), will be accessible for someone with somewhat limited mobility, snd ideally isn’t crazy far off the beaten path

Not necessarily AI but will include a chef/butler -- rent a house at either Half Moon Resort or Round Hill in Jamaica. Don't be fooled into Tryall Club though (beach will be too rough and too little to do with young kids).

Cancun or riviera maya. People flock there for a reason and this is it.

Could always rent a house at OBX and bring two cars. One to get the kids out in town doing one of the kid friendly activities for relief. Old people can go on a tour of the many old people attractions like the Lighthouse.

Beaches. Turks if you can afford it. I love all inclusives but there’s not a lot to do. I also love houses with staff (like PP suggested) but same issue. Beaches has the water park, is more accessible than typical Caribbean resorts and is good for all ages.

Atlantis?

Honestly cruises are perfect for this. I'm confused why there is a health issue that makes it impossible for someone to go on a cruise but they can go to an all-inclusive. If its motion sickness, cruise ships are totally different than small boats plus they can get the little patch from their doctor which helps the worst cases.

I’m not the OP, but I get sea sickness. It’s incredibly unpleasant and you are essentially trapped. The meds can sometimes help, but I’ve had issues on cruise ships and have vowed never to cruise again. I wouldn’t minimize the discomfort motion sickness causes people.

OP, just pick a resort in Mexico. That’s the easiest.

I mean, it isn't lux and it is expensive, but Atlantis would probably fit the bill well for this. The Bahamas is an easy trip, and will keep you in this time zone. Lots and lots of activities.

For those who have been to Atlantis— how is the food situation? We have been to Baha Mar which I thought would be a good option, but the food is SO expensive and I think some family members would spend the trip totally frustrated by that. The Baha Mar restaurants also aren’t great for picky kids or kids with food allergies in many cases and it’s hard to get reservations (though we were there at a peak week so maybe just bad luck).

I will check out the Club Meds. Any Cancun area resorts in particular that people recommend? We will have family flying in from around the country and while there are directs for us to many places in the Bahamas, that isn’t true for other family members.

If they have a condition that requires access to a high level ER, being stuck on a boat in the middle of the ocean isn't ideal.

Wow, you have mobility issues, other medical limitations, cranky people who get upset about price if not AI, picky kids, food allergies, people who can’t deal with layovers or time changes. Yikes, I feel for you. (Sounds like my extended family, haha). It’s sort of a balancing act with these resorts. The bigger ones have more ppl and worse food but more activities and things to do. The smaller ones are a nicer vibe and better food but fewer activities for kids. If you don’t want to do a deep dive on trip adviser to try to figure out the best match, you could also use a travel agent.

I’m not the OP but why can’t DCUM just stick to an OP’s request. Every.darn.thread people have to argue with what the OP wants.

+1
If you don’t have an AI to recommend just move along.
