| Perhaps, 3 kids from school got in (outside of dc). Legacies and very pointed talent. Good story tellers, too. They were not the stellar dcurban kids with picture perfect grades/sat combo. |

Two kids got in from our school - one is a legacy, the other one is FGLI.
The legacy kid is also a recruited athlete, has tons of leadership and is an excellent student and super charismatic. FGLI kid is an exceptional student. Based on my kid, he pretty much pulled this off on his own, no support from parents which is impressive! Apparently, more kids got rejected than deferred at our school. |

| They rejected 71% and deferred 17% so those rejected were in good company. |

| Mine got deferred. They are taking it in strides. Not legacy not FGLI. Grades and ECs are excellent. Who knows. |

| I heard one boy from our HS was accepted - UMC, white, not a legacy or athlete. Unique spike - showed massive dedication and leadership in particular type of community service over several years!! Top student with top grades. Teachers love him so I assume great recs. |

Second all-time lowest acceptance rate for Yale. But yes, a slight tick up from last year which was lowest ever. But you have to wonder if kids who were never in the running threw in an app for the hell of it during TO - to all the schools. Not sure if that made the completion harder tbh. Everything much much more competitive than 5 years ago. |

EA acceptance rate this year 10.8%, 5 years ago was 13.8%. That's not really "much much more competitive." TO clearly increased app numbers at highly competitive schools but that's the main factor here, not that kids accomplishments have changed dramatically in 5 years. |

From the acceptances I have seen these kind of top schools are full of spiky students. The students accepted seem to be a real standout in one particular discipline that has had to be cultivated over a pretty long period of time. In addition to being strong overall. |
