Christmas Champs @ Fairland: official results?

Anonymous
It's been like a week since this meet. Anyone know where the official results are? Not on PVS and no reflected on any other places I've seen.

Been wondering the same! Not sure what’s taking so long…

Is the host going to Post?

Was just going to post the same thing myself. We attended but are not the host club

SA hosted, i believe. I've learned a lot on here about how much goes into confirming and reporting official results, but this does feel like a very long time in coming.

It should only take a day or two for the host to post.

We are now on 8 days since the 3-day meet ended. Officials who are on this board, any sense of what might cause a delay like this? Thanks for any clarity.

I'm an official. I just went and looked- the results from this meet are in meet mobile. I strongly suspect that they have also been sent to individual teams and are in each swimmers records. Its a busy time of year- both in terms of personal commitment and in the swimming world. There were multiple big meets last weekend and this weekend. A lot of the most experienced officials in PVS, who do a ton, are aging, and have things like new grandchildren or kids weddings etc. It doesn't really matter when the results are posted on the PVS site, and processed through the times officer, there is nothing to qualify for in the next couple weeks that means someone needs times quickly uploaded onto swims. I really think this is probably the whole answer- people are busy, getting the results file posted publicly just doesn't need to a major priority.

MM isn't an official source for results. Define "in swimmers record". Since they haven't been sent to the LSC (or posted by the LSC), they are also not in the USA SWIMS database. They might be in a teams' ondeck or other platform, but that doesn't count. But people who had kids swimming last weekend and just this weekend may be a little in the dark as to how they did, and there's also one last meet the weekend coming up.

And RMSC got out the results for their holiday meet which just finished last night today as well as the other two meets that were this weekend

I literally don't understand this. The entire meet is in meet mobile. Correct it isn't "official" but it is 99% accurate- especially after a meet (as compared to when times are accidentally being posted to meet mobile before the event is complete). I strongly suspect they are in the teams ondeck databases, I don't understand how it doesn't "count." Count for what? Yes- swimmers needs times in SWIMS in order to show provable times- but there is no meet 1)that needs provable times; 2) that the swimmer could have obtained those times at Christmas Champs; 3) that has a cut off for those provable times in the next week or so. There is plenty of time for PVS to process these results.

I don't know about 99% accurate unless it's based on some study. Times in meet mobile do get revised (or not revised and differe from officials results) and sometimes swimmers' races are updated with DQ or DFS. Yeah, that sucks.

I don't have a study for you but I think you have some misconceptions- this is based on my experience as an AO of many years.
Meet mobile works with meet manager- the default setting on meet manager is to have anything that goes into the results computer automatically go into meet mobile. This is not a good default setting- but if it is defaulting to going to meet mobile, that means meet mobile is going to initially show a pad time, then it will show the adjudicated time, it might get updated to show a DQ (A DFS would be showing as a no-swim and then swich to DFS). But all those updates are happening during the meet. So yes, if you are seeing results on meet mobile before an event is finished, those times are not accurate- but by the end of the meet, they will be.
The better way to use meet mobile is to turn off the default setting, and when you are ready to close out the event (e.g. all times have been adjudicated, all dq's have been entered, all no-swims have been verified), print the results list and upload the results for that event to meet mobile. This all happens on deck during the meet. Its not happening days later.
There are a variety of things that happen, primarily related to meet mobile or spotty/ overloaded wifi, that cause results to either not upload or partially upload. But the results that do upload are accurate.

I'm not saying errors never happen- but errors that are caught after an event have been closed out are fairly rare. That was why I said meet mobile is 99 percent accurate.

I still think the host needs to post!!! We didn’t participate in this meet , but it would drive me nuts!!!
