| I’m concerned about the man my sister is dating. She’s a high earner but I’ll be blunt and say she isn’t the most attractive. She rarely dates and I think in general men just aren’t interested in her. She’s started dating a teacher she’s met and to be honest I think he just wants to date her for her money. In fact he once joked that’s why he’s dating her and he wants to be a stay at home husband. She’s vulnerable in my opinion and unlikely to see things for what they really are. How would you talk to a sibling about a difficult subject like this? |
|
I wouldn't talk to her about this because it's not my business.
Maybe she wants a stay at home dad. Again, not your business. |
| Is he abusive, mean? You can't tell her she's too ugly for love and she heard the same joke you did. |
| Let me guess, you and your kids inherit from her right now. |
I think it’s abusive to take advantage of someone for financial gain and dating someone for money is wrong. If she couldn’t work or became poor I have no doubt he’d dump her quickly. |
And you have no proof of this, other than a joke that your sister was probably present for, and your opinion that she is ugly. So you just don't like her, probably. |
|
Her motives may be more complicated than you realize, and she is likely aware of their income disparity.
If things head toward marriage you can mention a prenup as a way to protect her future children (people tend to be more willing to take steps to protect their children than themselves). |
| Should of thought of that before you spent your entire life emotionally abusing her. |
How much do you earn? |
| That’s a terrible thing to think that’s she’s not attractive and that only you can protect her. Worry about yourself. Has she let you make mistakes? |
| Stay in your lane. What would be so awful if they married and he was a stay at home husband? Do you know how much is costs to have someone prepare meals, be home for repairpeople, be there for the kids when get home, help them with homework, etc? Get a hobby OP and let your sister live her life. |
While it may be terrible it’s still a reality. There’s plenty of gold digging women and if it was your brother you’d try and protect them. Same goes for a sister. There are no doubt gold digging men. |
| You say nothing. She is an adult and she knows what she is doing. |
|
I believe the former Mrs. Bezos dated and married a teacher.
What is so wrong with a man working as a teacher? |
Do you get your sense of worth out of being the only sister who is married and has a family? Did you give up a career, and feel that your sister should not get to experience both a high-powered career, and love? |
