We are planning a trip to the Algarve with our three teens this summer. Would love any and all recs on places to stay (we are open to both AirBnb and resorts), things to do, things to avoid etc. We know it will be hot but we are fine with that. Thanks! |
We've been there the past two summers, and stayed in Airbnb's in the old town area of Lagos. We loved staying there and being able to walk everywhere in the old town as well as to the Lagos beaches.
Driving (going anywhere outside of Lagos) and parking in the old town is a pain, but maybe your Airbnb host would have some tips. |
We stayed at the Vila Vita Parc resort in Porches last year. It was wonderful but it is expensive. We stayed there at the end of our two week Portugal tour and it was a great way to relax after a pretty feverish pace from Lisbon up to Porto and back all the way south. |
Why? That is mainly a beach destination for trashy Brits, like our Cancun. And the beach isn’t even that great, certainly much worse than Cancun in fact. Did you really not know that? Oh my. |
I guess the good news is we won't have to see you there ![]() We have stayed in some of the smaller towns near Lagos - but not directly inside of the old town. We rent a car and like to go to some of the "secret" and beautiful beaches along the coast - Burgau, Sagres - the water can be rough - in some areas - especially as you go past Sagres. We rent houses - which often having garages or parking spots- there are parking lots on the outskirts of Lagos with an easy walk in - or you can go around to the Marina side where there is a large underground parking garage for dinners in town. Our teens love to surf - so Sagres is often visited. |
There are no secret towns in the Algarve. Every Brit knows them all. |
I didn't say secret towns. |
We stayed in Tavira— take a boat to a beautiful beach |
+1 I loved Tavira |
