Red wine, overnight/all day in car in freezing weather - how bad will it be

(Not in DC) My mom got DH a wine gift pack for his bday - 5 bottles of red. It's wrapped. We are heading on vacation after work tomorrow. Packing up the car tonight, and I am going to uber to DH work and we leave from there.

How bad is it to leave the wine in the car either a) overnight tonight (low of 16F) or b) packing it up in the AM (will be between 16-27 during the day). Will it freeze? If it does freeze, will it damage it? Worst case scenario is that I bring it with me in the uber, but dang do I not want to carry 5 bottles of wine LOL.

If it's 16 degrees outside over night the wine will freeze overnight and the bottles can explode.

The less time in a very cold car the better. The day time is way less risk because the sun warms the car, and if you're driving, inside will be warm too. So pack them into the car in the morning. Wrap towels around them and place them in a box alone, just in case, but you should be fine if it's cold out but the wine is inside the car with you for most of the time.

I can definitely do the AM instead. He doesn't know what's in it (wrapped) so I didn't want to ruin the surprise, and I definitely don't want 5 bottles of exploded red wine all over the car! If it's ok in the car during the day, I think that will be the plan. He does park outside, but in the sun (please be sunny tmr), black car, and will be warm from the ~30-40m drive.
