Snow tomorrow

Is FCPS going to call a delay tonight?
Anonymous
It will be above freezing and little to no accumulation so I doubt there will be a delay.

Wind is the issue…

Never mind, just read Capital Weather Gang's prediction. Looks like no accumulation for DC suburbs, but nasty wind and overall much colder than usual.

I only see wind.

This morning was in the 20s and tomorrow morning will be in the high 30s. It will be colder tomorrow afternoon and evening. The wind will be the bad part.

Hopefully we'll get some conversational flakes.

No accumulation, probably just flakes in the air at most. But there could be a power outage situation which would be serious given how cold it’s going to be.

I think they have called just for wind before.

They have in 2018 but it was a serious storm and people were without power for days from it.

Ok but just wind? No rain, etc?

Yea, at the time I thought it was stupid, but it was strong enough to blow over a stop sign in our neighborhood and we were out of power for about 24 hours. Closing schools was the right call that day.

Tomorrow’s wind won’t be anywhere near that bad.

The storm in question was essentially a strong but dry tropical storm. Lots of trees down, roofs peeled off, etc. Every public school system in the DMV and most private schools closed, OPM closed, Metro curtailed above ground routes- it wasn’t “just wind.”
