I mean sure if you are on corporate travel with expenses where time is more valuable, but it’s Thanksgiving and people are still lining up for watery eggs.

My inlaws are worth $20M and would still balk at that. Most people don't get to be rich by being money wasters. |
When I’m traveling, I might find it worth it because it saves a lot of time, There’s no family members can come down as they finish getting ready and we are out the door and don’t need to Figure out something to eat for several hours. |
If you’re a certain loyalty tier, they are usually free |
Lol. I totally agree, OP.
Fwiw, we only hit the hotel breakfast if it’s free. Otherwise we find a local bakery or cafe for good coffee and breakfast pastries, egg sandwich, etc. |
Sure I guess. I wouldn't default to the buffet at that price. I'd certainly rather pay per item, especially if I'm with my kids who will eat $4 worth of items.
But at the same time $15 seems reasonable for a breakfast buffet. So really, is $10 more for really all that bad? I could justify it in plenty of circumstances. Not all, but some for sure. This is why I love a mid-tier hotel like Holiday Inn Express. Free breakfast for a family of 4 is an awesome deal. |
I have a friend who eats breakfast buffet at a fancy hotel almost daily, $50 per. They know what she likes and she treats them like her staff. It’s truly bizarre. |
If it’s just me and includes options I like, it wouldn’t bother me that much. Realistically it’s like the hotel room was $25 more and included breakfast.
For a family of four however, I’d probably find another option. |
I just don’t want to waste the calories of crappy food, let alone the money. |
I’m sure that’s a quality breakfast, this was wet eggs and bagels from a plastic bag! |
That would be no problem if it were good breakfast. But it isn't. So we will make do with the grocery around the block, thank you very much. |
I often pick a Hyatt type hotel and they have a very good breakfast buffet for free. I've paid for breakfast at a Ritz and it was 100% worth it: amazing pastries. I would not pay for a regular hotel buffet. |
Only the low end Hyatts, Hiltons, Marriotts and IHG’s have a free breakfast if you don’t have very high status. And Hilton is the only one where you get free breakfast at the higher end hotels through credit card alone. |
When traveling, time is at a premium, so travelers pay for convenience.

Still digesting the food from the night before. Coffee only. |
