This thread will get to a 1000 within days after the USCS/USYS/AYSO joint announcement on "transitional rules". Assuming we've not got there already.

Hope the BY advocates can survive the ordeal (probably not).

I'm sure they will do their part to make this transition as toxic as possible lol.

Their time has come and gone, now they have to transition power to the opposition. I’m sure they will go out kicking and screaming.

After switching to SY, only the top current Q1/Q2 will survive after two seasons in the ECNL/MLS team. Most Q1/Q2 will be demoted to the second team. Like the current very few Q3/Q4, who still remain in the ECNL/MLS team, they will dominate the younger group. This is a statistical fact. BY parents try mental gymnastics very hard to convince themself this would not happen or that somehow P2P MLS and GA will still stay in BY.

This is less of a concern for older teams, as the population of elite Q3/4's is by now much lower than it would be if each Q was represented equally. That is, for every Q1/Q2 that is on a team, only .33 of a Q3/Q4 exists to take their spot.

I would say it's even less than that. In my area it's probably less than 10%.

Some people here think kids at lower leagues who are Sept-Q4 will be battle-tested enough that they'll overwhelm current Q1/Q2/Jul-Aug players at the highest levels. We shall see.
Probably more so on the boys side. Difference with puberty and number of boys playing makes them more competitive.

Not really. Teams change every year. Probably more will move this year and next if you're Sept/Q4, as clubs and players seek an edge which isn't guaranteed. But after that parents trumpeting their kid's birth certificate will again fade into the background.

100%

Birthdays don’t play soccer.

Have Q4 son and daughter, can confirm that it will be way more cutthroat on the boy's side particularly around U-13/14.

The lower leagues all play the same boomball. Are there ECNL teams that play boomball? Sure. But it’s really hard for kids stuck in boomball to climb the ladder.

Well, birthdays decide who can and can't be on a team so a big deal otherwise people wouldn't be so angry and saying the change is irrelevant. This changes everything for who will be picked by the soccer gods.

Love the ironic projection of BY as toxic 🤣

I am a SY advocate, and still am totally blown away by how utterly insane many of the other on the SY side are. The BY people were not even remotely toxic compared to you all.

Not the OP, but there has been multiple posts from folks who like to talk about Sept/Q4 kids dominating/beating out the Q1 kids/sending them to the lower teams as some form of retribution over the BY system. Totally unnecessary and kinda unrealistic especially at the older age groups. I think a lot of parents of Q1 players actually are looking forward to playing with the more experienced/slightly older players who likely are also in their grade. They think it'll make their teams and their kids better, to be frank.

Agree. Its a much better spot for all Q1 players even if they need to learn a new postion or come off the bench.

Not sure if you are that stupid or that belligerent. Belligerent probably though.

It'll be good for them to get beat up a little, pays off in the long run, right Q4's?

Something tells me this was actually written by a BY advocate pretending otherwise and trying to rewrite the history of this thread, or someone who just joined the conversation within the last 10/800 pages. There's about 500 pages of BY people telling everyone to stop complaining about trapped player issues and their desire to play with friends, and that their kids just suck at soccer. The actual issues being addressed were explained over and over and over, but it eventually devolved into just a place for bitter BY people to trash talk younger kids. If you newly visited the thread for the aftermath of the announcements and SY advocates gloating, I can see how maybe you think they are toxic too though.
