Good morning! Besides all of the Machine sites, which of your teams/locations are attending Turkey Claus this year? I recall some teams planning to opt out. It’s such a fun meet (my kid is only doing NCI in 3 events, so we are happy to have the TC option too). |
NCAP AU and the NCAP MD sites all go to Turkey Claus. Most of the VA sites attend different non-NCI winter champs meets. |
Toll always does TC |
I think the Rockville RMSC site goes to Turkey
Claus, while the other four RMSC sites go to Christmas Champs. |
AAC did Turkey Claus last year and we loved it but it stretched the coaches too thin last year. They were at Turkey Claus and Sport Fair. So I think that they opted no, which stinks for the swimmers not in Sport Fair since it is such a great meet. AAC does not do NCI - I don't think we have many swimmers that would make the cut times. |
NCAP Tysons goes to Turkey Claus. I think Marymount does, as well. |
Yes, the close in VA sites do Turkey Claus and the others do meets that are in VA. |
NCAP-Burke goes to Turkey Claus |
I have always thought that all NCAP sites go to Turkey Claus as an agreement between NCAP and Machine because NCAP hosts NCI and Machine hosts TC. |
The VA sites in Loudoun/PWC/Fauquier attend other meets in VA (1 is in Stafford and 1 is in Warrenton). |
Look at meet mobile from last year under teams and that should give you a good idea of the teams that usually attend. |
Why is it a fun meet? |
Not OP, but what makes it fun is that they run it like an elite champs meets even though it’s a “NFT” meet so the kids that may not have a chance at a meet like NCI or NCSAs get to experience what a meet like that is like. |
The meet is set up as prelims and then finals. The top 16 make it to the finals. The top 8 get to have their names announced and the top seed gets to pick the song they walk out too. They also get medals, but they are just ok. |
Seeing my own kids bounce between NCI and Turkey Claus and others too, I will say that you do see kids put down some amazing times, crushing age group cuts for PVS spring meets or in some instances make NCSAs. Different goals for different swimmers. Agree with the sentiment that the atmosphere is super fun. At least when I ask my kids about swimming NCI, they've said it has a more serious atmosphere. |
