Comfy yet dressy flats for cocktail dress?

Anonymous
I can’t wear heels for medical reasons, so I’m looking for very comfy flats that are dressy enough to wear with a handful of cocktail dresses for an upcoming trip.

The dresses:

Silver sequins

Black sequins

Red silk

Green silk

Black velvet

The shoes:

Is there one shoe that will work with all the dresses? I’m trying to fit everything in one bag for a weeklong trip. Black patent leather? Black satin with an embellished bow? Something else?

I’m looking for brand names and links.

When I say comfy, I mean:

Not pointy; square or round toe needed.

Flexible; not rigid because I don’t want blisters.

Cushiony; I can add Dr. Scholls or some such, but I prefer flats with some cushion and support.

No. Flats and a formal dress are a no.

This is why women of a certain age often wear ultra dressy pants to big events (palazzo, sequins, etc) or floor length dresses to hide the flats.

Flats and a knee length dress announces that you teach preschool.

I haven’t bought anything from them but saw this company on instagram.

I’ve been reluctant to order because the return policy seemed risky but the shoes are pretty…

Maybe some black flats from a brand you like and some shoe clips to add variety? It's not the "ideal" but I don't think anyone will faint in horror that you're not in sequined palazzo pants. I've had good luck with easy spirit and naturalizer for work flats.

Op, I think it’s ok to wear flats with cocktail dress (if you can pull the look) but round / square makes the feet look even more bulky. It’ll be hard find online shoes that hit all your requirements.

Wear a cocktail dress and Go to Nordstrom's or dsw and try on different options. Even within the same brand, I found the fit of different models on my fit makes a big difference.

Hear me out . . .

What about metallic rothys? You can easily add inserts to these, that's why I like them. I agree with the others that it's hard to wear flats with cocktail dresses, but I also think we all just need to get used to that look. It's ok to not wear heels!

I wear flats with dresses but hard no on rothy’s - the fabric makes them too casual for cocktail-wear.

I’d try these- you could take them to a covbler for stretching if needed.

I have a pair of gold ballet flats from J McLaughlin that are very versatile and comfortable. Not sure what their current options are but I’ve had good luck with their shoes.

Flats are fine with palazzo pants OR long dresses as shown above

This shows my age, I guess, but I always learned the shorter the dress, the flatter the heel.
