DC Suburb Became the Safest Place in America

Across the Potomac from the capital is a county of high-rise apartment buildings and extremely low traffic-fatality and homicide rates.

Arlington is rich, and not affordable for most of the criminally inclined underclass. These numbers will worsen overtime and given the poorly designed affordable housing policies that subsidize extremely low income people to move here.

Exactly. Rich, well educated, homogeneous place with a demographic population skewed towards adults over kids will result in higher quality of life. Not sure why this is controversial. It’s why 50+ communities exist.

If they import poverty they will see all of these metrics go the other direction. Just look at Montgomery County.

The takeaway is that Arlington is potentially juking its stats and the Upper NW of DC is actually safer than the affluent VA / MD suburbs.

Statistically, DC is horrendously dangerous for African Americans.

Reddit dipsh*ts stay true to form. Why are you at a mommy blog website arguing about crime stats?

And the typical house in Arlington only costs, like, $3 million.

How else can we keep the unwashed masses out?

Keep them out? The county wants them in:

These stats are based on serious crime like homicide not what Arlington County classifies as the "nuisance crimes" of carjacking, store robberies, knife and gun assaults, car thefts, thefts of catalytic converters, bike thefts, graffiti, and public lewdness.

Arlington built too much "affordable housing," and has to import people from Alexandria and DC to fill the units. Immigrants are the next group they need. There is a new affordable mid rise going up behind the affluent Lee Heights Shops that will be the target for these immigrants as they are less disruptive than those living in Arlington's other affordable housing buildings. They will not shout vulgarties at the people leaving Pastries by Randolph and La Colline.

Arlington is rich, but not at all homogeneous, and actively importing and subsidizing poverty for the past decade. At the same time massively increasing density, without the infrastructure in place to support any of it. This is a problem. The local democrats in perpetual power do not seem to see it though.

Interestingly, Arlington; Loudoun Co; and Fairfax Co. are all listed as top 10 safest. That's good news, though doesn't take into account the nuisances crimes per PP above.

One of the reasons why we're happy in FFX. We do feel incredibly safe.
