Health and Medicine
|
I'm lucky as my kids are now adults and through the vaccine cycles. I did have a lot of anxiety about distribution of the COVID vax as we live in a blue state. Fortunately, Biden was elected and I was more confident that the vax would be rolled out as necessary as the PPE distribution was not based on need.
Now I'm fretting about whether the people in my life are going to be able to obtain the meds they need for sundry underlying conditions. My anxiety is shooting up. How do others here feel? |
| Maybe its just the nervous breakdown talking, but I think this is great. The more effort Trump has to spend trying to get his nominees through, the less time they'll be able to spend making things worse. |
|
These idiots voted for this.
You are smart enough to stay on top of what you need health-wise. Effe the rest of them. They asked for it. |
| Yes. Concerns. A lot of them. |
|
I think the people who will suffer most are children and especially infants, but to be honest I don’t see RFK Jr showing up and diving into the minutia of changing regulations every day so he may end up saying more crazy stuff than doing it.
There was a column somewhere today where the science columnist said reviewing the fluoride thing isn’t actually crazy. So I guess that’s good. |
Yeah but he won't have trouble. We're past that kind of objection now. I am also very glad my kid has their vaccines. Teen, so probably a meningitis or something to go, but these are adult vaccines now. |
| I’m terrified. Lots of people will be refusing vaccines. Formerly eradicated diseases in the us will be coming back. Maybe when enough kids get paralyzed by polio they will get it. |
| The country elected him so we have to live with his choices. I am sure they will sail through congress or be allowed to be annoited during a recess. I guess just trying to shock the system in every direction so no one can keep track. |
| Do we actually think his appointment will get confirmed? There has to be at least a few Republicans who side with the Democrats and won’t vote to confirm it. |
Seems unlikely, but Republicans are pretty crazy. |
|
I hope there are enough Republicans with a spine in the Senate to oppose it. But they also should be opposing Tulsi Gabbard, the Fox News guy who wants to be SecDef, and Matt Gaetz. How much political capital will they be willing to spend?
If RFK Jr. takes over HHS, I predict some combination of the following: vaccines no longer required for public schools insurance stops covering vaccines low-income and dumb parents don't vaccinate their kids my biggest fear is another pandemic and an absolutely horrific response, and lots of people die. |
OP here - yes, those are all my fears as well as not being able to obtain certain meds for mental illnesses. |
| Trump’s demand for recess appointments makes more sense in the context of his nominations. It will allow these people to take their roles without subjecting Rs like Tillis to tough votes going into the midterms. |
| Yawn. Does HHS even do anything? You could get rid of the whole department with no impact? |
| I'm thrilled about it! Finally someone to take on big food and big pharma. Americans are unbelievably unhealthy, and its not like the dems were trying to do anything about it. At least RFK is trying to enact positive change! |
