What does our neighborhood pizza place keep giving us free pizza?

Anonymous
1. I place order for pick-up. Two pizzas.
2. Husband picks it up on his way home from office.
3. Husband walks in and they say it’s been paid for already. He says he doesn't think so. They double-check, repeat my name, and say it's all set. Husband tips them $5 cash and assumed I paid over the phone or via web ordering.
4. This has happened three times over the last five or six weeks, including tonight.

Only tonight while talking to each other do I know he hasn't paid and neither have I (I just double-checked credit cards). Do they have my first name attached to someone who has a large gift card on file or something? It doesn't make any sense.

Do you log into an account to order?
Next time try creating a separate account and logging in.

Maybe the owner has a crush on you or your husband.

Do you have a common name?

I call. My first name is normal, not super common, not super rare. And I've had this cell phone number for decades.

Someone is disorganized. Not your problem. Order away with a spring in your step.

Now that you know what will you do next time?

Why don’t you ask them if they are a small business they’d probably appreciate it.

That's not very ethical.

What's the place and your name? All of us here can order and go pick up one for each of us now that we know it'll be taken care of.

Have you checked your credit card statements?

If you like the pizza, report this to management before they end up out of business because their staff suck at their jobs !

Yes it is. OP is ordering and trying to pay. She's fulfilled her responsibility.

This is wrong. You need to call and correct it.

So I assume when he got home and told you what happened, you called the pizza place abs have them your credit card number, correct? You can’t keep taking free pizza, OP. You shouldn’t have done it the first time and you definitely shouldn’t have done it three times. They are making a mistake, obviously. Do the right thing.

I don’t think you’ve done anything unethical or wrong so far. But the next time you order, can you go and pick it up so that you can tell them that you have not paid for it and maybe talk to somebody who can get to the bottom of why they say you have.

Even if they're mixing up a name and number in their system, why would anyone get free pizza? Like someone's name and number are saved and it just comps their pizza every time they're in? Weird.
