This forum has more lawyers per capita and many of us are interested in the legal case, not a particular side. This is a big deal for us, we're nerds.

This sub forum is full of email job fed spinsters and SAHMs with vivid imaginations.

Watch when Blake drops all of this hoax nonsense in a few weeks. July 4th week is my guess. Hush hush settlement, NDAs all around and everyone carries on like this never happened. Hollywood is just an evil fake place. The only winners here are the parasitic lawyers and bottom feeding bot armies.

You've repeated this line for months ("forum with the most lawyers and journalists per capita") and I believed it since I'm fairly new here, yet I'm a journalist, and in the past, when I asked for other reporters' input on some elements of this case, there were crickets, lol. With the exception of one poster who magically was a "fact checker" in the past.

DP but PP above didn’t say “the most lawyers and journalists” above, she just said lawyers.

Whatever, she's always said some variation of that line, and just like she's wrong about the amount of journalists, she's also probably wrong about the amount of lawyers on here, too.

I don't know if that fear is merited, but I do think it will come down, in large part, to witness testimony, including testimony of other members of the cast and crew, Sony producers, and other witnesses to the events Lively alleges in her complaint.

And on that point, I will note that Liz Plank, who worked closely with Baldoni and Heath on their podcast for multiple years, today replied to a comment on her Instagram about today's dismissal with "lmfaooo." Plank may be a material witness in the case as it is suspected that she is the "mutual friend" who Lively texted during the early weeks of filming about Baldoni's and Heath's behavior and how she was going home crying at night because of it.

I think some JB supporters may be surprised when third parties who were there start to weigh in on what happened here.

Is t Liz Plank the one Ryan Reynolds started financing?

To answer my own question, yes, she shares a business address with VanZan, has known Reynolds longer than she has known Baldoni, and allegedly played a role in Blake being cast in the the movie.

Which one of those is "financing"?

Liz launched a production company in November. People did some digging and the person that she launched with is Ryan Reynolds long time business partner, and the address of the production company is Ryan Reynolds’s either apartment address or the vanzan address. So yes, he’s paying for her production company, which I would call financing.

Liz is in a funny position because she had this feminist brand but if it comes to light she knew about Blake’s allegations in spring and summer 2024 and she gleefully hosted a podcast with him where week after week they tackled feminist issues and then she acted shocked when the article came out and dramatically quit, she’s going to look opportunistic and stupid.

She not a big enough name that she can weather that.

She's already weathering it. Her new podcast is sponsored by Katie Couric Media. Katie is doing promos for it.

And no, you are incorrect on the "financing" issue. Her podcast is financed through Katie Couric's company. You have to understand something about how shows get produced to understand this, but Liz's own production company is likely just a pass through or loan out company through which she is getting paid by Katie Couric. There are tax reasons why people set it up this way. Yes Ryan's business partner is her registered agent. This is not actually weird -- this is the kind of thing he does for a living. Plank is likely paying him, not the other way around, and Ryan has nothing to do with it.

If she were to testify (and I don’t think she has any relevant, first hand knowledge) this would be explored. There is no question that she has appeared on the red carpet with Ryan, he wrote a blurb praising her book, and she also appeared with him in a documentary about his soccer team.

Agree. It’s really hard to separate her from Ryan Reynolds and people are downplaying the fact that they share a business address and a business partner… He clearly financed her production company folks.

I don’t think Katie Couric financing her podcast is the get that people are trying to make it out to be lol . I love Katie and have a lot of respect for her career but she’s not exactly attracting a young new audience that Liz wants to attract. She was once a media powerhouse, and now she essentially has a podcast, which is what Liz is trying to do. It’s really not that hard to have a podcast, it’s hard to make money from it and make a living off it and the jury still out in whether
she do that. Saying that she is weathering this storm is really naïve and early.

The biggest challenge in my mind that liz is going to have to deal with is why she stayed so close to Justin if she knew all these allegations were happening behind the scenes. The way that she quit the podcast just looks very opportunistic and like she goes where the wind blows instead of having actual convictions.

"Baldoni’s entire defense was that Blake supposedly made up the sexual harassment to steal the movie. That claim’s been thrown out and can’t be brought up again. I have no idea what Baldoni’s defense is even going to be now. Why did she “lie” about being sexually harassed?"

I am not sure this is true or not and would be curious what others think. But if it is true, this would make this loss a much bigger deal that I think a lot of people currently think it is, because it could have implications for how well Justin can defend himself against the SH allegations. I'm curious if a jury will be as persuaded by just a straightforward defense (this didn't happen, she is lying or her perception is wrong) rather than this theory they've been putting forward that she was lying on purpose in order to gain control of the movie or obtain the rights to the sequel.

I’m not sure how much they can prove she was trying to get rights to the sequel. It’s not a stretch in my mind, but I have no idea if they can prove that or convince a jury.

However it seems very easy to show she was taking control of the movie via of the sexual harassment allegations. They absolutely advanced her role in the movie and it’s hard to argue otherwise. She simply would not have gotten PGA credit, which is a very powerful and sought after credential if you want to do things like direct and produce, which apparently she did. It was smart of Wayfare to write that letter and file it with their legal team to show that they did it under duress.

She also took control of the marketing of the movie which financially benefited Ryan, she blatantly sad that she wouldn’t charge the use of his marketing firm to the film and then she did. So they got paid, but also it allowed her to take control of the marketing and launch her hair products during promotions for the film as well as shill for Ryan’s gin line. Yes, inexplicably she had drinks made with his gin and her booze line even named after characters in the film during promotional events.

She also levered the fact that Ryan wrote the rooftop scene and was able to share that on the red carpet which helped them create the Barbenheimer effect they were trying to create. Tons of red carpet footage of her talking about Ryan and Deadpool. Showing that Deadpool was playing in the marquis next door etc.

It seemed like wayfarer was blindsided by the list after the strike and she used the list to leverage a lot of control over the film. I don’t know how all of it will shake out or even if it will go to trial, but it’s hard not to see that she got a lot of things when her lawyers started sending threatening letters to Wayfarer and alleging sexual harassment.

DP but I’ve been on this thread for months and people in the thread have been commenting since the beginning that there are an outsized number of lawyers (or people who claim they are lawyers) in the thread compared to a regular thread, and that seems correct to me. Not sure re journalists. YMMV.

If there’s a settlement now, it will be a settlement where Sarowitz/Baldoni pays Lively millions of dollars, and not the other way around as the Baldoni supporters who have been urging for months have said previously. Actions have consequences and that MTD Order that we’ve been warning you about for months was devastating.

But otherwise, sure, keep pushing your settlement wish.

Gotta appreciate the hopefulness here I guess after a day like yesterday I guess. Not even Freedman is out there spouting this rn so good job you I guess.

Is this sarcastic? I think this was a good day for Lively but I think overall this case has been horrible for her, and I think a trial would be a big mistake. I think the Lively people on here will snark, but I objectively think this would be a great opportunity for her to push for a settlement and try to end this mess that she shouldn’t have started. And no, I’m not saying for 400 million. Maybe that each agree to withdraw claims and release a joint statement and donate a sum to some NFP. Unfortunately I wonder if her team is giving her smart guidance though

It sounds like HIS team gave him terrible guidance.

How so? He came out swinging and reset the conversation quite a bit. If I had just read that article, I would have thought he was a total creep. I have had random people send me the snark tik toks on Blake. People who are as liberal as they come and not misogynists. She misplayed this here, and a lot of people don’t like her now. I think you can admit that. If she had a legit claim, she should have brought it forward using Normal channels and not leaked a one sided piece to the NYT

Babe, he lost. It's crazy y'all can't see this. He filed a BS complaint and it got dismissed before discovery was complete. Do you realize how rarely cases get dismissed at the MTD stage? This is a HUGE loss for Baldoni and Wayfarer. You can look at all the tik toks slamming Blake you want (which would exist even if this case doesn't, because to paraphrase Baldoni's own PR team, people just really want to hate a woman) but it doesn't change this simple fact:

HE LOST

People *hate* Blake now. Justin won the PR war, regardless of what comes out of this legal mess.

This is the bottom line.

This is society's ingrained misogyny.

When people accuse JB supporters of misogyny, there's no way of winning, so I'm just gonna say: Yeah, sure, I'm a misogynist. A big, fat misogynist. I just hate women SOO much. What now?

Babe, we already knew. But admitting it is the first step.

Thanks, hon. <3 I'm proud to be a misogynist, and I'm so glad you recognized that in me early on.

First step on the Baldoni path to Men’s Rights organizations. He really should be out here giving his supporters guidance on behavior. But, Hawaii!
