Has anyone been to Capital Grille with vegetarians and/or kids and/or food allergies?

Anonymous
We have been invited there for a family event, but we have kids, a couple of whom are vegetarian, and one with peanut/tree nut allergies.

Any experiences with any of those?

They can do pastas. But call ahead to verify.

That's a good idea. The vegetarianism is new, and so far we've accommodated by just picking restaurants that have vegetarian choices already on the menu. I don't know if it's reasonable to ask for something entirely different.

I've been there with small kids (under 5) who are well behaved and vegetarians. No problems.

Kids split a salad as an app, then had Mac & cheese with mushrooms and asparagus. So ordered three sides for their mains. Didn't call ahead.

What I'm saying is, they don't publish their kid friendly menu, but they have one and it includes pasta. Not sure about allergies.

Definitely call ahead to ask about menu options. Otherwise you risk awkwardness at the restaurant when you could have left the kids home.

They have lots of options.

I wish they’d put them on the menu!

I’ve been with my kids who have allergies (milk and eggs). I noted the allergies on the reservation and again to the waiter when we arrived. No issues.
My kids like steak and fries.

OP here,

I wanted to come back and say that I did reach out and they responded quickly saying that they have a kids menu with mac and cheese, grilled cheese, pasta with butter, chicken fingers, burger and kids filet. They also said that for someone who is past the kids meal stage of life, the chef can make a vegetable dish, but since our vegetarians are 10 and under, my guess is that they'll be happy with something off that menu, plus maybe some salad or sides.

We eat there all the time both at Chevy Chase and Mclean. They are great with allergies. PN/TN. DC eats the steak and shrimp or crab cocktail (can’t remember either(. Usually get vanilla ice cream or cheesecake. Avoid any of other other desserts. I also ask that bread basket is nut free but there could be cross contamination so depending on your comfort level. Also always inspect because I do think one of the rolls has nuts and that is something that can be accidentally given by the bus staff as they serve that and not the servers. Enjoy!
