recommend your electric carving knife

'Tis the season for carving meats. This year, I'm channeling my grandma and buying an electric carving knife. Who even remembers what ancient relic brand she had...

Tell me about the one you have and love, or the one you had and hated.

No. Learn how to use a real knife.

No. I'm disabled in a way that makes that exhausting and painful. I know, because I do know how, have done, and am tired of hurting myself so some ableist dipshit on DCUM can derail a thread.

Sit down, be quiet, and try not to choke on your holiday meal, jerk.

I can't help because ours is a hand-me-down from probably the 60s or 70s that belonged to my in-laws (widowed FIL remarried right after DH and I met and we ended up with a lot of stuff like that). I remember my grandfather always using one for thanksgiving. They really do a great job.

OP, sorry I can’t help because the one we use is likely older than I am, belonged to my parents. Lovely harvest gold design on the handle and all. 😅

This is how I remember my gram's! I'm afraid you're right; they don't make 'em like they used to. Do you have a brand or model name, or is it well worn off?

Yep! This is the only time I remember seeing the thing: turkey carving. My gram's was probably a long-discontinued model too. They're useful though, and I think it's time I find one instead of fighting with roasts, turkeys, and the Christmas ham.

Thanks for the link! I'll definitely do my own research but I haven't seen one in-use in many years and was hoping someone had a newish one with specific features to either look for or look out for. Maybe I'll have to find one and report back.

Ease of cleaning is an important attribute. Thanks for mentioning it.

I confess I don’t get these. Isn’t cooked turkey easy to cut? What does the electricity do?

They're great for destroying cutting boards. And if you prefer wood/plastic shavings in your food.
