| I am late 40s and have purchased a couple of new Boden dresses that I love, but can’t figure out the shoe. They are midi length, and I think they look best with a big chunky heel. But, I typically just wear flats these days. I tried on flats and they don’t look great. I tried on boots and they don’t look great. Maybe I just need a heel but one that’s super comfy? |
| Before I even clicked on this thread, I was already going to say to you…. Midi only works with heels. Chunky or otherwise. But no one looks good in midi length with flats. |
thanks, fashion police i'll remember that forever |
| Who is wearing midi length now?! It's all minis or knee length were I am. |
Many, many people. Midis are being sold everywhere. How does this response help OP? OP, I see two primary options, both with at least some heel (1" or 2") -- tall boots that are covered by the dress or pumps. I prefer pumps with a 2" block or wedge heel for comfort. I'm short, though, so if you're taller, you could get by with a shorter heel. My most comfortable heels come from Cole Haan and Vionic. |
And where exactly is this? Palm Beach? Where I am (Chevy Chase/Bethesda) you see all different lengths of skirts including midi. I'd even say that would be the most common length currently. |
Huh? Why are you being snarky? Ops longer question was literally why does midi seem to look so bad with flats. The answer? (That anyone with an ounce of experience with fashion knows) Because flats look terrible with midi on absolutely everyone. And if you want to get more into it…. Dc women may be wearing midi length still, but it’s a bizarre region where women almost seem to enjoy wearing stuff that makes them as dour and unattractive looking as possible. Even the ones into fashion seem to take pleasure from anti fashion. So you end up with a lot of midi length. Other parts of the country did not embrace this trend as much, because, well, it’s unflattering. Put it with a pair of flats and it’s the least flattering of all. |

I wear a lot of clogs with my midis (not the flattest clogs - ones more like this: https://svensclogs.com/Peep-Toe-Plain-Clogs-Mid-Heels
or this: https://svensclogs.com/wide-collar-clogs-whiskey-high-heels/ or a boot with at least a little heel I LOVE a midi dress or skirt but they really don't look good with flats, in my experience |
| Bootie or boot or heeled loafer or straight up heels |
