| I know they used to have a great basketball team, but it isn't as good anymore. And I've heard a lot of the social life is off campus. Is it a fun place to go to school, with good school spirit? |
| Not really, more of a snob vibe. |
| Is it just lots of rich kids? |
Yes. I heard they screwed up investments so no money in endowments to attract talented students. Everyone has to be full pay, supposedly. |
| That's a bummer to hear. I thought they were all into "Hoya Saxa" and very spirited? |
| Last in the Big East = Hoya Suxa |
| So did they used to have good school spirit when the basketball team was good, and now they don't? |
| Salty responses clearly from people unaffiliated with the university. |
| Np- we also have this question. Since Georgetown does not have greek life or strong sports culture, wondering about the social side of georgetown and the overall social vibe. |
|
I don't think so. The school seems fractured into separate colleges, with the students not mixing well.
It's not about Greek/no Greek. If a large U, which GT is not, has less than 20% Greek participation, the social life for a non Greek is great. |

The basketball team recruited some strong players through new Fresh and transfer portal.
They play at the Verizon Center…the game I recently saw last year was decently attended though many non-students (also possible the opponents had more fans). Feels like playing off-campus always cuts into student attendance. |
Do you have more info to add? |
| The new basketball coach seems very good and I think the expectation is for an exciting season |
This, My kid loves it. Their roommates and friends are not "rich kids" |
lol! |
