And David pears? Or somilar?
Or how do I get grocery store pears to ripen? I feel likenthey go from hard to gross |
| Costco. I brought some absolutely beautiful and delicious pears there twice in a row now. |
I'm surprised. So much of their fruit is no where near ripe. |
| Balducci's. |
They were perfect the last couple of times, like I said. I always have really good luck at my local Costco with fruit. |
| I bought wonderful pears at Sams Club. They did have to ripen abit at home. Their fruit is amazing! |
| I frequently have to put fruit in brown paper bags in a cabinet to get them to ripen. Not sure if this is an old wives tale, but it has worked from me. |
| I found the Harry and David Pears at Trader Joes one December!!!! |
You shouldn't buy your fruit ripe. You should buy it about to ripen so that you can get it home without incident and then let it ripen. Especially pears which get very soft when properly ripe. |
| Costco has the ones like Harry and David. Far and away the best pears in store in the region. |
| Farmer's Market |
| They’re not as good, but I’ve gotten decent ones from Harris Teeter. They do take forever to ripen though. |
| Asian markets |
Wrong. Pears, peaches and nectarines don't ripen properly in paper bags. I can't tell you how many times I've tried it and still got a hard core (which indicates too low of a temperature whike being shipped from FLA). I don't waste my money. Stores sell hard fruit ONLY because it ships better green. |
