We had a horrible home repair issue which led to our family staying at a hotel for 5 months. Finally got back into our home and returned to "normal" and realize that I have gained about 6-8 pounds, but it's seriously all in my round belly. So my old pants and dresses that cinched in at the waist don't fit. At the hotel, we had free (unhealthy) breakfast, we ate out for dinner every day, I stopped my exercise routine, and there was a lot of stress/conflict b/c of the home repair issues. I've returned to my non-rigorous exercise routine (slow jogging a couple times a week plus weight training a couple times a week), and have lost a couple pounds, but the round belly in center and lower tummy is quite insistent.
I am 5'5" and 139 pounds, but aiming to get to 133, which was what I was before the home disaster. Age 48. |
There is no spot losing, just lose weight in general. |
I travel for work every year for a full month all at once. I always gain weight and feel it most in my belly/bloating. I think a large part of it is salt from all the take out food. I think you just give yourself time to detox and eat home made food and you'll find you lose at least half of that weight quickly and easily. The other half will probably take a little more work. |
Well it’s pretty obvious the answer is a) diet and b) resume exercise. There’s no magic trick, it’s just discipline. |
+1 You admitted you ate badly and didn’t exercise. Not rocket science. And you can’t spot reduce fat. So just lose fat and the belly will start to get smaller. |
Eat more protein, drink more water, and get more exercise. No alcohol. |
This minus the protein. Just eat less than you currently are and move more. |
Just go back to what you did before |
Do what you did before but do ab exercises every day (bodyweight is fine). |
This. You cannot target weight loss. Keep doing what you are doing and the weight will come off. |
I think I know you from your hotel stay, did we cross paths? You have two kids and you both are lawyers? LOL |
Sprint interval training - google it |
Honestly, you have pretty impressive physiology to only gain a handful of pounds given what you describe. You'll get back to where you were with continued discipline. |
Stress increases cortisol which leads to belly fat. Time and low carb helped me. |
