I don’t have any idea what their relationship was. Was it open? Did she have her own relationships on the side? This makes it seem like she was hurt and humiliated though.

I’m a huge Beatles fan, but John was not a good guy. He was abusive to women and treated Julian like garbage.

This. He was an okay artist ( he and the Beatles are hugely overrated in my opinion). I still like some of the music, but John Lennon the man was trash a lot of what he did has been overlooked because of the time he lived, because of his tragic death, and his stans and stans of the Beatles.

OP here. I wasn't even alive when he died. So I didn't know anything about his life other than he was killed. But I did grow up with his music.

He would be considered a pedophile today. A lot of rock stars slept with underage groupies, and no, that doesn't make it ok

+2 John Lennon was a horrible narcissist. Terrible father who married the stereotypical second wife to have his second family and abandoned the first.

She was older than he was. She was something of a mother figure. He was raised by his aunt and not his mother (I forget why) and had a wound there about his mother and was open about that. Ono was also a well-known artist from the very rarified world of conceptual artists in New York at the time and he saw her work and it impressed him. She was from Japan originally and not a typical fan. She had been married and her ex-husband took her daughter away and she never saw her again. She was very possessive of Lennon and probably controlling; she did not want him to have a relationshipwith his son Julian. They both did drugs (heroin, I think) and had a ton of money to indulge themselves. They owned a lot of real estate and she was into investing and smart about money; they got super rich. I believe she is reputed to be miserly. I think he got clean and was happily raising his son with a new album when he was killed.
