Because it is absolutely covered in PFAS. Are there other alternatives to parchment paper? I keep trying to make sourdough bread, and nearly every recipe calls for lining some kind of container with parchment paper while baking the bread. Hate hate hate the thought of coating my bread and all that work in pfas.
So what are the alternatives? Sourdough has been around for thousands of years, they didn't have parchment paper back in the day... |

I never use it because I'm cheap. Everything comes out fine.

Pizza stone/steel in the oven and cornmeal for sourdough bread baking, use pizza peel to put it on and take it out. Some use silicone mats, but I don't think it's better then parchment paper given temperature needed |

If you look at some of the studies there are brands that have really low levels including in my opinion the Costco brand which is what I use (obviously this is some random blogger's 'research' but still interesting)
