Who is on the TJ Posts?

I see a lot of TJ posts on the AAP section; I'm curious - are the main participants TJ people(have students in TJ) or people who are looking to apply to TJ(MS/ES) or TJ is the pride of our County people?

Who knows! There is certainly one troll poster who repeatedly posts with limited vocabulary - test buying, wealthy feeders, and their obsession of all, Curie!

I have created 2 threads concerning TJ because my child is a student @ TJ; class of 2028.

I did not previously participate since it did not make sense before my child began studying at TJ.

Now, however, I have a personal interest.

I have tried to understand more deeply the history of the admissions changes back in 2020. To that end, I created the thread on the Wikipedia entry, for use as a common background source. The admissions changes seem quite controversial.

The second thread involved last night’s email concerning the departure of our assistant principal. It seemed odd. I am still uncertain what circumstances led to his departure but I am fairly sure we have not been provided all the details.

Also, I have ascertained there is someone posting here who apparently hates TJ’s very existence, sadly.

or people pissed-off that TJ exists.

FCPS needs TJ to exist and needs academically wealthy hardworking students in overwhelming numbers. And those students and their families love, adore and cherish TJ very much.

I am almost convinced that is a false flag poster from curie trying to get people to look into their program. The posts are so outrageously racist and stupid that it must be caricature.

I post on TJ. I have a kid at TJ. I don't know that we "need" TJ but IMHO the people who want to destroy TJ are wrong. We need MORE TJs not less.

I post on TJ occasionally. I graduated from there.

I think some of the posts are foreign bots. Or people who are mentally disturbed.

I'm convinced some posters resent low-income students getting into TJ and preferred it when only a few wealthy feeders were represented.

The resentment is current race based process leaves out the more meritorious low-income students of their rightful chance at TJ.

The academically wealthy feeders are overwhelmingly being solicited by FCPS to accept their TJ offers. FCPS is presenting one third of offers to these hardworking merit student feeders, without whom there is no TJ.

TJ is 80.9 % minority students.

This means the people trying to destroy TJ are really just racist bigots who want to ruin opportunities for minority children.

Think long and hard about just who these anti-TJ really are.

My suggestion here is simple: it is not these MAGAs everyone tries to blame. We don’t even have MAGAs here, at least not in any meaningful number and not in any meaningful voting number.

If it is not the magas, then . . .

The people “trying to destroy TJ”?

You mean the people who trash TJ whenever they can?

You mean the people who joined the PTA only to politicize TF out of the school?

There are absolutely Republicans who continue to politicize and criticize anything related to TJ. Or FCPS for that matter. Look at the Fairfax GOP feed.

I’m a STEM person with STEM kids and I have interviewed TJ kids for my T10 STEM college for 20+ yrs. I have good friends who are TJ grads.

I generally follow news about TJ, but my kids were considering TJ around the time of the admissions change so I have been paying extra attention since then.

For years, there have been people with questionable motives posting misinformation about the admissions change so I have been countering those posts with accurate facts & data.

I have no patience for racists or people trying to politicize our schools.
