Does anyone know where to get ozempic if you are not technically considered obese? I need to shed some pounds and just want to take it for a few months to see if it will work along with my exercise and diet changes. I consulted my general practitioner, but she said I didn’t qualify. Clearly, people are getting it everywhere without being obese, so how? And no, this is not a troll post. I’m just hate carrying this excess weight around and am desperate to look like myself again. Thanks in advance.

Ozempic I'd for diabetes. Wegovy, essentially the same thing but sold under a different name for a different purpose (weight loss) is what you want.

Best bet is to use one of the online docs and lie about your weight so that you "qualify."

It depends on if you just want an rX or want it covered.

But also I don’t think there’s great evidence on whether it works for people who are only a little overweight fwiw. Or how it’s different if at all but as a person who was obese I settled in at a set point that is still overweight bmi. I’m thrilled, but idk if that means if I had started taking it at this weight I would have ended up lower? They don’t have all the mechanics figured out.

No. People are not "getting it everywhere without being obese." It's medication.

This is great advice! Lie to a doctor prescribing a potentially dangerous medication! And yes, Wegovy can be dangerous -- side effects can be serious and land you in the hospital.

I sense your willingness to stir the pot. Do yourself a favor by quitting all processed “food” and sugar. Now, if you want to alter your GI tract, vomit for awhile, and start with depression then take the Ozempic route.

OP here. Not looking to stir the pot. Just asking an honest question. Is what you get at a med spa the same thing? If not, how is it different? Is it safer? I don’t eat processed food. I barely eat out. Yes, I have a sweet tooth but I don’t sit around eating packs of cookies everyday. As I said, I have an exercise and diet plan in place, but I wanted to use this in combination to jump start the weight loss process because I am at the point where I am feeling the inflammation and I need relief. If you have real experience with the drug that you want to share, please do so. But do not lecture me on how terrible a person I am for wanting to try a medication. Thanks.

If you have an overweight BMI plus another condition like high blood pressure, you may qualify for the weight loss versions.

But I also think people make a lot of assumptions about what "obese" looks like, which leads them to think people are getting meds without being obese. I'm tall and at a BMI of 33 I still had a defined waist, reasonable chin, etc. I got some flack for going on the meds when (people assumed) I was not obese, but I more than qualified.

I'm 19:52 and I actually think it should be available to more people for its side effects. It's been great for me. Not shaming you.

I do think that a "jump start" may be unrealistic because you will be hungry when it wears off. Also many insurances require you to try other drugs first. But, if you qualify at all, maybe tell your doc you just want to try it short term. They used to have samples to give out, not sure if that's still a thing.

Anecdotally, it works fantastic for people who are only a little overweight. You don't even need a full dose, which mitigates side effects like nausea. A doctor who does HRT and whose practice is oriented toward biohacking will often prescribe it. Or look on Reddit for where to get it online.

I’ve been wondering the same as I’m pretty certain a few acquaintances had some help based on dramatic and rapid weight loss (none tremendously obese, but like me middle aged and could stand to lose 20 or so pounds all in the midsection). One friend offered her doc in Germantown, but I’m over an hour away …
