| Any favorite routes from DC? We have about 2 weeks but could go over if necessary. I realize it will be late in the season to see leaves (leaving the land week of October) but we're hoping to see some. Any tips? |
| It will be far too late for any leaves |
| No |

Too late - last week of October is peak time for very southeastern part of Pa - think southeast of Philadelphia- maybe longwood gardens?
North from that point will be remnants but by the time you hit central Pa it’s all brown and snow is a possibility |
| We are in western Mass right now and it is peak- nearly past peak. We were Connecticut the last three days and it is early/prime peak. Another weekend it will be edging to past peak. There will still be a little color, but as you go north it will be less and less. We are in southern Vermont on the weekend, will let you know how much color is left. |
+1 Parents returned from a driving trip to Maine and it was in full color. Here's a great interactive live colors map. https://www.explorefall.com/fall-foliage-map |
| Near Boston it is great right now. I expect another couple days of perfection |

Ok, well any nice routes anyway. We have to be there for family reasons but we'd like to explore the area while we are there. Fall activities that aren't dependent on leaves?
|
| Too late. You would have to travel south to see leaves changing then OP. |
| Also, is Acadia worth going to at that time or should we go another year? We'd probably be there around early November. |

This map makes it seem like there will still be places with peak foliage in mid-to late-October. |
Acadia will be empty which is nice. It will be cold and dark and no leaves. CT may have some nice leaves in late October. It’s amazing in VT today. |
|
Be aware that the time changes on 11/3 so in your second week it will be getting dark around 4:30.
The Cape is actually nice in the fall - the temps are more moderate so it can be warmer in November than other parts of NE. And the leaves change later too. There was just a thread on NE driving trip suggestions so look there for some tips. |
So DCUM. |
| You should drive to Montreal and Quebec City instead. It’s not far from NE and plenty of sites to see not seasonal dependent. |
