If you cook/eat liver

Anonymous
I have chicken livers I got with a roasting chicken — there been in the fridge since last Tuesday (so 6 days now) because I forgot about them. Do I need to toss them at this point?
Ordinarily I love a little quick liver pate but don’t want to put in the work if they are already gone.

They are fine if they have been refrigerated.

Depends on how you stored them. Assuming they were rinsed when you took them out of the chicken, stored them sealed and separated from any other parts, and immediately refrigerated them, they might be okay. Smell them. You'll definitely know if they've gone off!

In the future, try to cook them day-of. Organ meats spoil faster, and it's easy to "culture" them with germs while prepping other things.
