In our case it meant nothing. Our AART described it as the normal differentiation already happening in the classroom.

I don't think there is actually a specifically identified AAP curriculum.

Because some parents really care about such things.

I'd view it as a heads up that applying for LIV might make sense.

At our school they didn't do much in 1st, but in 2nd it was used as a chance for the school to collect high quality work samples and for the AART to get to know kids who were likely applying for or in-pool for full time AAP.

It means an extra reading group and additional math worksheets. It is NOT an indicator for AAP admission. My DD didn't get in to AAP.

It is not a guarantee that a child will be placed in LIV services but it does mean that the AART will have more time to evaluate that child because they will be looking at the kids who are LII identified when they are in classrooms and talking to the Teacher. DS was in LII in second grade, his LI class did not id LII in first grade because the focus was on learning the new language. He never told us about pull outs with the AART but we didn’t ask him either so maybe there were some. But the AART and the First Grade Teachers worked together to id the kids they thought needed LII. And some kids received reading or math, a smaller number received both.

It is at some schools in some grades. My kids got pull-outs for LII in 2nd.

In our school, we were not notified our child was getting Level II. We just found out when she said she was going to the AART's room to do "hard puzzles" and "talk about books." So it likely just depends on the school. Ours was definitely pull-out and started in 2nd grade.

My DD got Level II services in first and I didn't find out until her PT conference when I asked if was appropriate to refer and they said she was already doing it. We did get a letter for this year but I think a lot of kids did.

It’s to appease the parents. It’s nothing really in the totality of education.

No, my Level II child has not received pull outs with the AART.
