My son is shooting up and all his energy is going toward vertical growth. He would like to get bigger, just to be in proportion, not bulked out.
I told him I think that his body won’t really fill out until the vertical growth spurt ends. He is almost 15. Any insight? |
I've been wondering the same too- when they get their man muscles. My son is on the taller side too though definitely not skinny. He's 14.5 and no sign of a more mature body. |
I’ve noticed that around junior and senior year this starts to really happen (so 16/17 for most) |
He may not, depending on genetics and exercise habits. My brother is almost 35 and never did. What little he has is hard won with protein shakes and a chin-up bar, and is easily lost. Other men in our family are similar. |
this. |
Around 16/17. He isn’t muscular, per se — not an athlete— but is very tall, and it was around then that he started filling out enough to be just thin and not skinny. He seems to have stopped growing around age 17. |
My DS is almost 18, tall and active, and it hasn’t happened yet. My brother, who he resembles, is in his 40s and still only weighs 150 at 6’2”. Maybe in his 50s? 😆 |
My dh did not fill out til college. |
Most will fill out in late teens. 15 is still scrawny phase for 90% of boys. |
My kid didn't start filling out until he was over 18 and spent a LOT of time at the gym, plus a ton of swimming. |
My son is a sophomore in college and still super skinny. |
My 23 and 20 year olds sons are extremely physically fit and strong, but would be described as "filled out" by anyone. They are wiry and sinewy. If they take after the men in my family, they will be this way until their early 30s, when their metabolism finally slows. |
My tall skinny husband never filled out. He's 41 now and has the same body as when he was 25. |
I did senior year of college. Lifted weights for 9 years. But most ppl can do better. Good luck. |
My skinny and lengthy husband was Uber skinny until college. He is still lengthy, but not skinny anymore. He is 6’2” and 175 lbs… so think my son took after him. He is only 6… tall and skinny. My eldest daughter is also similar (lengthy and thin but not as skinny at 12). |
