| Trying to send our kid to visit a friend at W&M, and we cannot figure out how to get them there without a car. Amtrak seems to have two trains/day, but the times are bad, and one is often canceled. Is there a safe/reliable bus? Welcome any suggestions…. |
| the train works. |
| Will it work on new year’s eve / day? |
Yeah, unfortunately one of the two each day often seems to be canceled. |
| The train has been very reliable for my W&M kid. Never had a canceled train. We also know many kids who take it. |
| Train is the way to go. And costs only $19 if you book way ahead! |
+1 My kid is a junior and takes the train constantly. Never been cancelled. |
| I do not think there is a viable long-distance bus option to W’burg. Train or drive. |

+2. NP. My WM kid is a junior and has always taken the train unless it’s a move in/move out situation or we need to so something like take a bike. Never had a cancellation. It certainly beats sitting on I-95. It’s safe, reliable and the WM kids like it. I’d certainly do it over a bus down 95. |
| We’ve used the train a ton for our college kids over the past 4 years. Some delays but we haven’t experienced any cancellations. |
| Low key car-free kid vacation secret is train to Williamsburg and Busch Gardens. Train is cheap, hotels are cheap, BGW is cheap(er) (except for food which is gross and expensive). |
| The one time we tried the train, it was delayed and arrived 2-3 hours late. |
I mean, it’s an American train. You will get there eventually. If you don’t have a car it’s a better option than in most of this country. |
