Teacher not sharing reports for fall assessments

Anonymous
I didn't see any results in ParentVUE so asked DC's teacher and they would only provide the overall score and placement levels for i-Ready and no info on VALLSS. I would like the actual reports that can be generated for the assessments to have on file. Teacher says we'll review at PT conference. I mentioned I'd appreciate PDFs of the reports but no response to that. Not sure if teacher intends to share that after we discuss in person.

Is this typical? What would you do if you wanted more information? I do not want to be pushy but it strikes me as odd that the teacher is not providing the info I asked for.

I would assume it's because the teacher is busy as opposed to intentionally hiding anything.

If you really want it in print and don't get it at the conference date, just ask your elementary school testing coordinator, who is usually an assistant principal.

Thanks. Agree they're likely busy, which is why I don't pester for too much. I didn't think intentionally hiding so much as holding me at arms length and not giving more info than necessary, for whatever reason.

I will check with the testing coordinator if needed but I also don't want to do anything to ruffle feathers.

Are you saying that the fall iready score is already available? I wonder why they haven’t posted anything on parentvue yet. My kid took it early September

We’ve been told not to give the reports to parents at my school. I don’t get it either.

It's a computerized assessment. The teachers and staff can see the results immediately. For some reason, it takes a couple months to notify parents of the results.

Can any teachers on here let us know the approximate %iles for the kids that took 2-3 days to compete the iready math test? Thank you!

The test results are always hoarded by the teachers and school. It’s been this way for years. They did this with VGA, iReady, SOL, you name it! Get used to it, Op.

Computerize assessment gives raw score. But this score is not generally equitable, and requires FCPS additional time to figure out how to present the results in a least controversial manner, but equitably.

The reason it takes a few months to get those bogus reports that FCPS issues on behalf of the report that the iReady test vendor generates is because it waters it down to pure nonsense. You all should ask for the vendor generated results (which all schools have) and you'll see what I mean.

I'm the previous poster. Computerized assessment gives raw and scaled and to a much better understanding that the garbage page that FCPS generates which doesn't at all give you depth to your kid's understanding--the true purpose of the iReady!

That's what the vendor-generated report looks like. If you push your AP to release it, some will. As a parent, you're entitled to the authentic report that is produced by the test makers and not some FCPS bs that gets watered down and generated. Imagine getting an FCPS version of your kid's SAT report.

Anyone knows when the report will be available in parentvue?

It's usually posted at the end of the 1st quarter.

My DS came home with all his Iready scores last month? Print outs and everything. He’s in 3rd and 3rd grade + generally doesnt take the new VALLS thing according to the presentation at BTSN. This has to be a school by school decision because our school gives everything as soon as they can. Not sure why some schools want to sit on it so long.
