| on average Governor have high approval rating why is that? |
| My governor is popular because he's awesome. |
mine has an approve rating of over 55% and the only thing he did was banned cell phones in school/ |
| Well, if they aren't lawyers and can actually RUN things rather than legislate, then they are popular. |
| Please share evidence for premise. |
I have the same governor - nobody asked me whether or not I approved. |
Many states are pretty small and not very diverse politically. Easy to keep a majority of constituents happy. |
Well, we can’t make everybody happy all the time. The cell phone ban is a game changer for kids, teachers, and schools. I am very glad, and the teachers I have spoken with have said it is a huge change for the better. I am hoping for more resources and more enforcement to make it even better. |
Well, not quite all. But according to this, 40 of the 50 governors have a positive (over 50%) approval rating. https://www.multistate.us/insider/2023/8/4/decoding-2023-gubernatorial-approval-ratings

| Probably the same reason people generally disprove of the job public education is doing but approve of their own kids' schools: confirmation bias. You like what you know. |
That's interesting. I live in ND. Our legislature is 89% GOP, but Burgum has a 57% approval rating. There's a bit of gerrymandering, mostly affecting Indian reservations (there was a Voting Rights Act decision this year or last year that required districts to be redrawn with regard to Standing Rock, where the DAPL protests happened some years ago), no state gerrymandering because with only 1 congressman there's no point (and not much point with regard to the legislature, they're pretty close to disappearing the Democrats altogether). I know we'll get stuck with another Republican governor (sadly, the Dem candidate is one of the few Dems in the legislature, although his district has been one of the few reliably blue for about 15 years now). The GOP guy is the current congressman and voted against certifying the 2020 election. |
It might help the US move up from its 26th ranking in world math scores. |
| Governors are required to balance budgets and if they are able to do that it’s a good thing. They actually have to have business skills. |
He's also a POS. Not popular. |
