Premieres tonight on ABC starring Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson. The trailer had a record number of views for a broadcast TV show.

I like Joshua Jackson and Don Johnson and love the cruise ship setting so I'm going to check it out.

I think this will probably he terrible like 911 but I’m sort of there for it. I wish they were doing it as more of a campy dramedy but unfortunately I think network just is not edgy enough anymore to do something fun.

I’ll watch it, but I wish they would just reboot the Love Boat.

A modern cruise ship setting would be interesting and lends itself to a diverse cast of crew members. It would be a great vehicle to showcase a network’s actors along with trying out new talent.

Honestly, they would easily get viewers if they brought certain beloved tv or movie characters on. Think: the Family Ties Keaton family takes a cruise to celebrate the parents’ milestone anniversary. Don’t you want to see Mallory and Nick’s kids? What if Fonzie and Richie ended up running into each other on a cruise?

ICYMI: the cruise industry has always been a safe haven for gay people, with crew and entertainers specifically. A great way to showcase diversity and very likely memorable characters. You could bring celebrity musicians on.

There’s nothing but opportunity here.

Speaking of 911 being bad, I saw a commercial for an upcoming "bee-nado" episode.

I’d watch that! I liked the short-lived reboot of Fantasy Island a couple years ago.

Rachel Dratch was a guest on the episode last night.

I think they need to add more interesting characters to the cast—like a fun Filipino bartender and a sassy gay dancer. The 4 cast members just aren’t that interesting. It seems like the show’s hook is weird health emergencies and the subplot is chemistry between the older hot doctor and the younger nurse.

And poor Don Johnson seems to have developed a speech impediment…can’t tell if it’s Botox or bad dentures.

Agree, but they could do that with this show also.

She's a nurse practitioner but the point stands. I'm not a fan as she seems too young for him and is his subordinate. It's an unnecessary subplot.

That looks so ridiculous.

To me it does look like a mix of Love Boat and 911, and I'll give it a shot. I think 911 is a fantastic show and I've not missed an episode. I care about the characters, the actors are actually fantastic and yes, the emergency plots are usually ridiculous. The mix of all of that makes it a fun show.

It’s like a mix of Love Boat and 911 but it lacks interesting characters and the medical emergencies aren’t plot driven. They seem like bizarre tangents. It’s basically a show without a plot…unless you accept the plot is just a season long commercial for cruises?

GMA had a big cruise segment/ad this morning while promoting the show. GMA/ABC/Disney are one and the same.

Yes—I’ve been saying that for years. I could have some really funny characters and be light and fun. You could mix in some musical numbers or dance numbers easily too. I never cruised back when I watched Love Boat but now I’ve cruised I think it would be a phenomenal show. Could have some really crazy guest roles, because I’m sure they get all sorts of weirdos on cruises! I can’t believe there’s not someone in the entertainment industry that got their start working a cruise line and would have hilarious stories to tell. I’m imagining something more like a cross between Super Store and Grey’s Anatomy. And let’s not make the will they-won’t they romance a boss with his subordinate please!
And on the diversity, the chefs on cruise lines are almost always Indian, so I nominate this actor who is hilarious…
