Will Whittle be around next year?

Anonymous

No, teachers are not being let go for “speaking truth” or anything similar. In fact, every instance of a teacher leaving mid-year has been following a serious breach of professionalism on their part - and in some instances following a display of gross intolerance toward other staff members.”

I’m just curious, what level of professionalism is required when an institution can’t make payroll on time or guarantee that it will make the next payroll?

This is supposed to be a good thing?

This is an important point, PP. Any scenario where an employer has not met their most basic obligation to compensate their employees in a timely, responsible manner pretty much absolves the worker of any decision they leave to seek paid employment elsewhere.

Feel free to drop your initials into the post. No need to feel cowardly

So you don't know the details of the financial situation but you know that money has been moving (what does that even mean?) for the past month. Which is it? Or should we accept both realities? And as you're probably well aware, all the money that has been moving has been due to the generosity of one family helping you make payroll. Don't sell that as anything but what it is

Are you calling the parent who posted a balanced, thoughtful and detailed explanation of the reasons they've finally decided to transfer out a liar? Doesn't seem they would agree with the overwhelmingly positive experience you describe..

Has admin lied to us or otherwise mishandled things? I don’t believe so. Having an intimate knowledge of many teachers’ perspectives, most of us by the way wouldn’t stoop to slanderous accusations, I feel as though it’s pretty safe to say that every single admin member has just as much to lose as anyone else. Many of them have families too that are just as dependent on the success of Whittle.

I don’t know Chris, I don’t know the details of our financial situation, and I refuse to speculate thoughtlessly in a forum like this. What I do know though, is that I am not stupid. Neither are many of our other faculty members, nor our admin team, nor are the countless parents that chose to believe in this school’s vision. I’ve been in many schools - this one is different. Especially considering it is an Independent school. Anyone who glances at our staff or students can discern that immediately. This school is a disruptor in a field and industry that has long been dominated by archaic norms. And as with any change to the status quo, there is discomfort. There are challenges. Currently, we’ve been told that the light at the end of the tunnel is just around this next bend. Yes, we’re tired. Yes, we’ve been told that before. But money has been moving for the past month in ways which it hasn’t for a long time if I’m to understand this school’s history correctly.

So at this point, it’s just a matter of belief. Do we believe that this school can continue to successfully disrupt outdated institutions? And more importantly, can we believe that someone with capital believes it as well?

For those that can’t afford to believe anymore, I understand. Thank you for risking so much for us and our vision. For those that can afford to believe or are still on the fence, let me share some good news - for some funny reason it always seems to spread far slower than the bad:
The investor who toured the school last week was pleasantly surprised with our faculty, students, and curriculum.
One of our students has just won best delegate in one of the most significant MUN committees at their recent conference.
Students are gearing up to participate in other interscholastic competitions as we speak.
Many members of faculty have recently shifted gears from feelings of hopelessness to something resembling cautious optimism.
And most notably, every student I’ve personally talked to has reported an overwhelmingly positive experience at Whittle - even those who had to leave.

Food for thought. Now you can go back to your regularly scheduled doom and gloom while us professionals do what we do best.

This is pathetically surreal marketing. Bring back the teacher post that actually told it like it was.

Amen to that. The amount of pure bilge in the post from this brainwashed Whittle apologist is breathtaking... Whittle is not the Elizabeth Holmes or Bernie Madoff of education; he's the David Koresh. That didn't work out so well for the rabid followers in that instance....

In addition to yet another lawsuit filed today in DC court, a "Notice of Foreclosure Sale of Real Property" was filed yesterday in DC.

The affidavit of foreclosure notes that the doc was executed Jan 4th 2022. ...

Foreclosure "sale date" in the docs is noted as March 24th 2022...at Alex Cooper Auctioneers 4910 Mass Ave.

Maybe the sugar daddy advancing payroll can just buy the building now.

Which property does this reference? The building housing the school itself?

I'm positively shocked this piece of good news didn't make its way into the global marketing director's rant earlier 😂 Not to worry - all is well because students are getting ready for interscholastic competitions!

Hey, all may not be well but don't be cruel to the kids. Let them have some semblance of normalcy and joy where they can find it in this situation.

Where? I only saw a new docket number for a "Request For Foreign Judgment."

They signed a 30-year (I think) lease on the portion of the Intelsat building they're in. But as far as I've ever heard, they don't own their space.
