Ok, NP here. I've been reading this back and forth with some interest and a lot of disgust, but this post takes the cake for gross assumption. NOWHERE in this paragraph is it suggested that the softball players, YMCA users, and mall visitors were "accosted" by Moore. You're spinning your hardest to make something out of nothing. You have no idea what that suggests, other than these people knew of Moore, were coached by him, and observed him at both the YMCA and the mall. Nothing more was stated or implied.

While the actual accusations from the four women are troubling (and unproven), those are entirely separate from your gross speculation and fervent wish that there will be more to come. I can't even believe there are people like you, so eager to fabricate something from nothing. Disgusting.

Why would an editor feel compelled to reference corroboration “from several women in the [softbsll] team” that Moore coached the team unless, when given the opportunity to respond to accusations of misconduct by these then-teenage girls (who didn’t want to go in the record), he denied even being a coach? And “encountered” is a rather interesting word to use in referring to someone who frequented the YMCA. And why does the reader need to know that “several women” knew him from the mall? You need to learn to read between the lines for what’s not been reported?

Yes, careful reading indicates the Post found more women who encountered him through softball, the Y, and the mall. Those women refused to go on the record and who can blame them?

Careful reading indicates you've completely made that up. The post found people (of both genders) who witnessed him coaching, working out, and walking around a mall. There is *nothing* said about "women refusing to go on the record," nothing at all. Why are you lying?

1) Let's start with the fact that this is a one-sided accusation and that's what the mother SAYS happened. I would imagine the mother was expressing concern about leaving her daughter outside in a hallway while she went through court hearings, and he was answering that concern.

2) I am 56. Graduated in '79 up north. This was not unusual even up there, though northerners DID raise their eyebrows at it more. The south is a different place

3) If my daughter was of legal age, what I thought would only matter on a moral level, not a legal level. The problem here is that in order to make the accusations fit, it HAS to hinge on Moore KNOWING this girl was 14. I have no concrete proof that is true. And I don't believe in destroying ANYONE without concrete proof.

There was a MAN in Atlanta blamed for a bombing who was actually a hero. There was another woman who lied and trashed the reputations a bunch of Lacrosse players at Duke.

That has nothing to do with women who have been molested and everything to do with the fact that yes, some women lie.

What this ghastly thread shows is how hard it is for a woman to go up against a powerful predator. Unless you have tape or a witness to the assault it is hard to get justice in our legal system and your account and your motives will be questioned.
What has happened in the case of Weinstein, Spacey, Louis CK etc. is that they have lost their careers so there is a form of justice for these women and hopefully a deterrent to future bad behavior.
The talking point from the Moore campaign is that these women are part of some conspiracy (variously identified as Democrat, liberal media, Republican establishment). The "proof" is the timing of the story - just a few weeks out from the election.
That is not credible however. The Washington Post has been in Alabama reporting on this Senate race and for the first time there is a lot of national scrutiny of Roy Moore who is running for one of the most powerful offices in our land. As they reported the story they heard many accounts of questionable behavior by Moore as he began his career as a DA and before he was married. They heard accounts of him dating teenage girls and associated behavior (trolling shopping malls, attending high school games, coaching high school girls teams etc) that sounded questionable given his dating proclivities. They asked around and that is what brought them to the four women who were willing to go on the record with their experiences. The reports of these four women were corroborated by 30 sources many of whom confirmed that these women told them the same story either at the time it happened or decades ago. It is a well reported and credible story. The accusers and the sources are mostly Republican and it also sounds like many are Trump voters. My question is why haven't the Alabama media been covering these stories as Roy Moore has risen in stature and power in his state?

A woman who worked with Moore as a prosecutor is calling him out for dating teenagers and hanging out at the mall and high school football games. Eeeeewwwww.

I have some trouble with the story, myself. The only story which is really disturbing is from the woman who described the sexual encounter.
