lax culture from an insider

What are the best club teams in MOCO for Hs?

Hoe many summer showcase tournaments per summer is the norm for a high school student who seeks to be recruited?

It depends. Quality is often more important than quantity. There are also individual events vs team events. A program like Madlax schedules 5 even 6 team events. That's a lot of fun when your son is a youth player, but completely unnecessary for a HS kid (actually, it's way too much lax for anyone). That program schedules that many tournaments mostly to line the owner's pockets.

You should talk to your HS and/or club coach to figure out what events are best. There's no rule of thumb other than avoid the tournaments where there is little visibility to be gained.

I would also encourage people to talk to the high school coach. Even if your child is in a lower grade, they can give you an honest view of the landscape.

Is it worth playing for Madlax Blue in high school? Or should my son switch to the A team of a lesser known program? He is interested in playing D3.

How does one know how much visibility is offered by a tournament? Is there some type of ranking system?

The surest way is to ask people who've been through the process recently. You can also look at the event's website and see which college coaches they claim will attend.

I was about to sign up my son for Madlax tryouts in August but now see they are creating a MD and VA team. What happens to DC residents?

You sure you want to do that? There are much better clubs run by decent people.

Going forward, expect to see a lot fewer SSSAS and Virginia kids on BW, and more Montgomery County kids.

Why?

Trig is being linked to the potomac job

Are all coaches like Trig/staff and cuss at the kids during a camp? Is this the norm with the "elite teams"?

Were you at the camp today

Trig is not the new Potomac coach. They already hired a new guy from SSSAS.

Trig has a schtick where he yells incessantly at kids. Some kids like it, some do not. A lot of his behavior is to get a reaction out of kids and their parents.

Yes camp today was not what we expected not a lot of teaching just dropping the f bomb with every sentence. Not my sons kind of motivation or ours. Is this the best NOVA has for coaches?
