| My kid will be going into 11v11 next fall. Is there any difference besides team size and field size? He's on the 2nd tier team for the club this year. |
|
S/he should spend this whole year getting in shape. The field is big.
|
Size 5 ball. And fitness |
| The goal is bigger too. |
| Those football size fields at High Schools are the worst. Way too big for the U13s. |
Agreed. |
| More running. Fitness is key. |
| Train small sided so that large field is like playing in smaller quadrants, rondo your way up the field into different quadrants. Easy |
Watching it this year. Took the kids 2 games to realize that their spacing needs to so much more than they are used to, like twice as much. Solid medium to long passing seems to become more important than dribbling compared to 9v9. Enjoy the year! |
Yes, my daughter looks so tiny this year in goal
|
| The need for endurance!! |
| Kicking power, to allow them to actually spread out into the extra space. Watch more pro games together and really understand offside rules. |
| 2v2 |
She'll grow into it. I thought the same thing when my DD was that age. Now in college and that goal looks a lot more "manageable" (just not during PKs )
|
| Do clubs normally have 1-3 teams at U13? I know Arlington, McLean, and those larger clubs tend to have a lot of kids. |
