Lisa Marie Presley

Can someone explain what is the fascination with LMP? She is not talented like her dad and lived kind of a weird life with not much to show for it. I know she sings, but has anyone a fan of her "music"? Besides being Elvis's daughter, why do people still care enough to keep her name circulating even after death? Her daughter is making the news rounds about finishing her mother's autobiography which is mostly about her drug addiction, sobriety, bad life choices and terrible things happening to her. Why would this be interesting enough to be talked about in primetime news?

Because Priscilla was a genius at keeping Elvis so prominent in the collective consciousness. She turned his estate into a fortune, too. I suspect the interest in Lisa Marie will drop off precipitously, and Elvis will fade quite a bit too.

OP, out of curiosity, what is your general age range? My take:

Elvis was introduced to a new generation through the Austin Butler biopic and I think this also revived interest in LMP, the only daughter of a music legend. Both died too young through tragic circumstances/addiction, which itself is compelling to a lot of people. I have listened to Elvis my whole life (my dad was a fan) and his voice really is beautiful and one-of-a-kind. Whether or not he will remain relevant to this next generation remains to be seen. But as long as people are interested in Elvis, there will be some interest in LMP.

What, precisely, is your problem? It’s significant enough that you behave as if you are forced to pay attention.

This the new pointless woman-bashing thread?

I went to Graceland this summer and it was PACKED with people of all ages. People love Elvis. Elvis loved his daughter. She’s buried there and people were allowed to bring stuff to leave at her grave.

From what I understand, she’s the one that found her father dead in the bathroom. Then her mother couldn’t handle her and sent her off to Scientology boarding school or something. She didn’t have a fabulous childhood and probably carried around a lot of trauma. Why are you so angry about her?

Agreed, she's Elvis' daughter so of course people are going to be interested on some level
She's not that in the news though.

She has ties to two music legends.

I thought the morning news coverage was weird, too.

Like the op said: she never really accomplished anything herself. The book is an obvious attempt at cashing in one last time. I actually wonder if she received an advance and her daughter was basically forced to deliver a book or pay back the advance her mom likely squandered.

I don't really understand this hateful thread, but I will say I am more interested in her DD Riley who appears to be actually talented.

I saw an interview recently with LM's half-brother through Priscilla, Navarrone, and he didn't have nice things to say about LM (probably because she could be very mean when in the throes of addiction, from what I gathered) but he basically said that Riley is an angel on this Earth and different from the rest of the family and just a wonderful, quality human being.

Obviously, most people are obsessed with celebrities of all sorts--TV, movie, reality TV, music, sports.. escapism I suppose.

I am amazed at how many follow reality TV contestants (ex, Golden Bachelor).

I just want to know why the ‘Marie’? Was there any other Lisa Presley?

I saw her getting married to Nic Cage at Mauna Lani. She had a house at 49 Black Sands there. She and her mother loved the area
