My 3 1/2yr old son likes to wear my heels!

Should I be concerned? He always wants to wear my heels, & say he's a grown up, & he does things like wraps himself in a blanket & ask if I like his dress. He makes reference to my eyeliner & lipstick. Aside all of this, he is a typical masculine boy, not feminine at all. He's rough, likes to climb things. Is this normal, or do I have reason to be concerned?

He's fine. It means he loves you and wants to be like you. My son plans on painting his toes until he's as big as Daddy, and he doesn't care that he's the only boy in his preschool class to have blue toenails. What are you concerned about anyway? I'd be mostly concerned that he might break your shoes, but I don't think thats what you are getting at.

OP here. Not really concerned, I guess. Just wondered if other boys this age do this, or might he be gay, which is totally fine with me. He's my boy. I am concerned that he's scuffing my heels, though!

Who doesn't like a nice pair of heels?? The kid has good taste!

I had a cousin who did this when he was little but is now a grown married (to a woman) man. I think he just wanted to be like his mommy.

"Do I have reason to be concerned?"

About what? You follow up with "not concerned, really, just wondering if he might be gay." That sounds like concern.

I doubt a 3 year old playing dress up is the first sign of homosexuality. And the fact that "he's rought, likes to climb things" doesn't mean he's straight.

I'd think a bit more about what exactly you're concerned about.

My son's 3.5, going on 4. He's obsessed with women, women's clothes, mannequins (I wrote about that in another thread). Wants to wear my shoes, and all of that. I figure he's just going to be super-in-love with feminine women or a cross dresser, or both. But it's never really bothered me (other than trying to figure out where my shoes went when I'm already 15 minutes late getting out the door).

Yes, you should be concerned-- concerned about getting pictures and video, and plenty of it. It sounds freakin' adorable.

You read my mind! The only concern that I would have would be not having a camera handy because that sounds super cute!

My DS does the same thing. Just trying to emulate you--mommy who he loves. I am sure a little girl would do the same. Take lots of pics that you can show him later. I am sure it will cute in the video/slide show you make when he gets married!!

OP here. Thanks! You've all made me feel better. He may end up walking better than me in my stilettos!

I have at least 5 videos of my son clacking around the house in heels. It doesn't worry me in the least. Now the time he said, "When I grow up, I'll have boobs like mommy" is a whole other ball of wax...

Whatever, not a big deal! I am pregnant and my son wants to be pregnant too. It just seems interesting to him because it is something mommy is doing.
