I thought Trump had killed off the Al Smith dinner in 2016 when he said Hillary was so corrupt she was thrown off the Watergate Committee.

I guess because her campaign is centered on pro-abortion rights, and Catholic Church has always been very clear on this issue. It could be very awkward for everyone invited and hurt the fundraising efforts.

She said she attend next year if elected POTUS. This is supposed to be a bipartisan event. Trump got booed in 2016 when he went after HRC. So much for bipartisan. And he’s only gotten more erratic (2020 was virtual).

Plus, the Pope is BoTH sidESing this election and she is running hard on Dobbs. Agree not attending to listen to Trump insult her and have her running on Dobbs hanging over the event is best for all.

Will be interested to see if Trump attends. Last I saw, he had not confirmed. .

Perhaps Trump and Biden should do this dinner together. It could be considered their last supper before their arrogant old butts are forced into retirement. We will be so much better off with those two out of the way.

very few links are posted. very few cites are provided. It’s more rare to have a link and cite provided. It’s usually someone posting their opinion, and throughout the thread comments will provide cites. Those often get deleted.
