My 14yo DS is suuuper skinny. He’s a bit shorter than average overall but not in the legs. Just went to Target and boys size 16 were a little short but huge in the waist in all the brands we tried. He miiiight fit a men’s 28 x 28 but they are so hard to find, and without an adjustable waist, I’d be wary - and he wants some sweatpants or joggers too. I used to get Lands End and Old Navy but their slim sizes seem to stop at 12. Any other suggestions? Thanks. |
I just got some jeans for mine from American Eagle. They have the biggest choice for skinny kids in my opinion. For joggers/sporty pants mine wears Adidas (XL has 32 inseam). |
What type of pants? My skinny DS has always had good luck with the joggers from Nike and Under Armour. He also found a pair at American Eagle in whatever their smallest size is (XS maybe?). If you ever need basic chinos, Children’s Place has slim sizes online through size 18 (just normal chinos they don’t look kiddish at all). Gap and sometimes Old Navy also sell slim sizes. Mine does not wear jeans at all so no help there. |
NP: thank you for the AE suggestion for jeans. My skinny DS needs jeans for the first time in a long time and wasn’t sure where to look |
I was having this issue too- my DS is a string bean. Taller than average and super skinny. I found children’s place slim fits really well. They go over size 12 and can get elastic waist. |
My two slim boys have had luck at American Eagle. But their jeans do bleed a lot of blue in early washings. Prewash a few times before first wearing if you buy dark jeans. Old Navy sells one waist size smaller online than they do in the stores. I think it is 26". You can still return anything to the store. Prices are also better online. I have had luck with Van Heusen Flex Flat Front SLIM Dress Pants and a Haggar suit purchased from Amazon. Amazon has a better selection of boys dress clothes than I can find locally. We need dress pants for orchestra so this has been an annual chore from size 14 to 20. Size 20 slim in a boy size is a 9th grade boy about 5'7" and 130 lbs who can wear men's small but needs 26×32" pants. |
American Eagle for jeans, Under Armour for joggers / track pants |
Children’s Place has slim fit up to size 18. We do cargo pants style. |
Definitely American Eagle. My tall slim boy has always found jeans there. He gets their smallest waist size and their longest inseam. |
Try L.L. Bean for khakis should the need ever arise.
Mom of underweight to skinny to slender DS21. |
Mine is tall and at one point was super skinny. Old Navy was one of the few placed what had pants the right length, but also with a small enough waste. Nike was the only sporty company we found with small tall. You may want to check out the lengths given and see if they work for your son. |
Sorry waist |
I used to get pants for my skinny son at Children’s Place online (the slim has inside buttons for adjustable waist). Now he is too tall for those though. I get size 28 or 29 waist online - Gap, Levi’s, Uniqlo. Prana on clearance online sometimes has decent deals and 28 or 29 waist. |
Ditto for American Eagle. And my kid wears Nike sweats. |
