Not having learned from its "Fu Manchu" debacle, Churchill Road ES is now dressing students up in "cowboy" gear. Given the subjugation of the original inhabitants of the American West by non-native "cowboys," this picture is deeply distressing. When will they ever learn?

| Chill pill please. |
| OP you do need to chill out. There really are rodeos involving people who wear cowboy hats and vests, and that has nothing to do with Native Americans (some of whom may also be rodeo riders, if they so choose). It isn't a racial slur. Some cows or horses may be hurt in a rodeo though, so perhaps FFX County should ban leather? |
| You can't be serious. |
|
OP, you're insane.
And there was hardly a "Fu Manchu debacle" - I think you were the only person who freaked out over that. |
| Surely the OP is joking. |
| The administrators at Churchill Road are stupid. Stick to teaching and not all this gimmick BS. |
| I can't believe the rodeo was promoting READING. That is so offensive to illiterate people. When will they ever learn? |
| Gimmicks are gimmicks. |
|
What's next, xeroxing paper money on the color copier to promote money skills?
How about the girls dressing up in french maid outfits to promote home economics? |
You're right. Seven-yr olds should just want to read. Let's get rid of all these gimmicks like contests, fun school activities, the library's summer reading program which rewards kids for reading 15 books. If we have tot trick them into reading, let's just forget it. |

this picture is deeply distressing
Really? Really??? |
| nice troll bait! |
Next thing Churchill Road is going to do is celebrate Black history month by painting all the kids in black face. |
|
So do the kids have to dress up in rodeo and fu manchu every time they are asked to read?
Do we need a gimmick to get kids to clean up after themselves after lunch? Yeah, it's a daily scavenger hunt in the cafeteria! Sounds like a bunch of parents/administrators with too much time on their hands. I'll bet none of these parents or admins had these stupid gimmicks when they were growing up and by wonder, they still can read! |
