White people aren't indigenous to Europe?

I saw an article on CNN today with a headline that strikes me as rather odd. The headline to the below article reads "Europe's Only Indigenous People are Under Threat". The article is about the Sami who live in Northern Scandinavia.
How are Britons, Germans, Swedes, French, etc. not Indigenous to Europe? If not, where did they originally come from? I mean technically we all came out of Africa and migrated elsewhere, but I just don't understand how the Sami could be considered the only Indigenous group to Europe.

Seriously? Anglo-Saxons have lived in Europe since at least the 700s.

Romans lived in what is now Italy.

European identities as they’re now conceived are generally pretty new. Germany wasn’t unified until relatively recently. Neither was Italy.

Then you have countries like Slovenia, which really didn’t exist 1918. Before that, there was no sense of being a Slovene.

Bottom line is, it’s complicated and the story really depends on which European country you’re talking about.

ah- indigenous here means the original inhabitants.

most people who claim they are 'native' to a place are just prehistoric settlers, people have been fightig over land resources for a long time. Also the 'whitest' white people- wouldnt be considered white culturally in the USA where the spectrum is Anglo-saxon..germanic..nordic..Eastern European.. southern europe.. greek/spanish. the indiginenous people of europe or any place are the ones who have occupied the land first and stayed put in that area oinstead of venturing out and they have remaioned culturally pure as well. i'll give you an example of the French- thay are "Gauls" or Celts back in roman times but then they got conquered by the Romans, didnt. make much impression but then the germanic tribe called the Franks (hence French!) conquered them and completely changed everything and really mixed with the Celts, then there were the invaders from the North, the Normans who governd and raped both the Brits and the northern French from tehir southern land (scottish highlands) so the celts who were teh origianl people got diluted both ravially and culturally by noryhman and germans. Same with spain- the visgothic hordes completely mixed and colonized the original people of the land who were cetic in racial and cultural development and had adopted a Romance language. Inigineous people are popel who retain tehir language, culture and racial pehenotype through waves of new comers in their territory and were in that territory first. In that way many Indian Americaan groups are not actually indigenous to the land that they were forced from by the US government and teh competing claims on territory helped the US to clear the land b/c the indiegous peopel were already fighting other tribes plus the US government for sovereignty. (the apache/comanche in texas are a good example of this)

The Near East/Middle East/Central Asia. That’s where the Caucasian race and Caucuses mountains are.

I’m going to take a gamble here and say all roads probably lead to Turkey as that was the crossroads. It’s very under researched though
